Serious Note

Mar 10, 2013, 12:12 PM

I cannot stress enough about how blessed I am to see another day. God is amazing! I was rear ended last night by a drunk driver who was going over 100 mph. My truck was lifted off the ground spun around into the ditch and when it stopped, I was in the backseat on top of my neck. The truck is totaled but I'm still alive. Lets use this as motivation to live everyday like it is your last because it might be. Go Tigers!

First of all and most importantly, glad to hear that idiot..

Mar 10, 2013, 1:16 PM

didn't hurt you worse than he did... or kill you.

2nd of all and less importantly, Do you mean to say that cars, if in the wrong hands, can potentially kill people too? It must not happen that often, otherwise society would be outraged and trying to make it illegal to own powerful cars.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Cars are highly regulated...

Mar 10, 2013, 1:24 PM

You have to pass a test to have the right to drive and that right can be taken away without hurting anyone. Cars are also registered with the government and in many cases you have to pay property taxes on them every year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

'Right to move about freely' =IMPLIED right. So FUNDAMENTAL

Mar 10, 2013, 2:07 PM

it was not even written down. Automobiles are an extension of that right.

FWIW, (and I have nothing to do with them,) the Freemen do not have licenses, car registrations, insurance etc. based on this right. They refuse to allow the government to deny this liberty. Because they are uninsured, they drive VERY carefully. Compared to national averages, their accident rate is minuscule.

badge-donor-10yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you can move about freely, but there is NO right

Mar 11, 2013, 2:05 AM

to drive; driving is a privilege and must be earned. there is no extension, that's absurd, you are not born with the right to operate a motor vehicle.

no one is impeding the right to move about freely by making you earn and maintain that privilege.

"freemen" don't 'refuse' anything, they break the law. there is no right, implied or other, they are being denied. they drive, they get caught, they get cited for driving without a valid d/l, they have their day in court, they lose, they're assigned a D/L# which is immediately suspended. they get caught again, they are then ticketed for driving while suspended. they go to court, they lose and if they get caught in the right state or enough times, they are then revoked. that's when they play for serious cash prizes and jail time.

good luck with that.

Mar 10, 2013, 9:53 PM [ in reply to if only the Constitution said your right to drive shall not be infringed.** ]

True, there were no cars when the Constitution was written. Neither were there automatic weapons...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The whole point of the second amendment was so that

Mar 15, 2013, 10:19 AM

citizens could arm themselves against a government, just in case. So, if you consider the purpose of the amendment, which had nothing to do with sporting or criminals, then whatever the government has, the people need something comparable as leverage.

Whether or not people agree with that is one thing, but its the actual reason the 2nd Amendment exists.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

with that logic

Mar 15, 2013, 12:52 PM [ in reply to Re: if only the Constitution said your right to drive shall not be infringed.** ]

radio TV and the internet are not covered under the First Amendment. The founders had no idea there would one day be such

Re: Is anyone trying to ban full size trucks or cars

Mar 10, 2013, 2:34 PM

You literally just changed your argument.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No I did not.

Mar 10, 2013, 3:02 PM

My argument was that the misuse of cars kill a comparable number of people as the misuse of guns every year. Yet there is no serious effort to ban the perceived "deadliest" types of automobiles, while there is a widespread movement to ban certain types of firearms.

Nothing I said contradicts that.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I feel you on that.

Mar 11, 2013, 1:23 AM

Many of the people clamoring to eliminate gun posession would be in an uproar if someone wanted to prohibit them from being able to drive a 2-ton machine 60 mph as if that's any less dangerous than having a firearm with the chance to accidentally go off.

Glad you're ok, man. WEAR YOUR SEATBELT!!!

Mar 10, 2013, 4:50 PM

Maybe you were, but not likely that you would end up in the backseat with your belt on. I was in a rollover on 95 when a diabetic had a low blood sugar reaction and came across the median and almost hit us head-on.

My (now) wife and I rolled down the interstate 4-5 times at 75 mph and walked away with scratches because we were wearing seatbelts.

Not wearing a seatbelt=you don't care about your family that you leave behind. Seriously folks...wear your seatbelts.
