Seems Garrett has dumbed down O plays AGAIN

And even that has sadly had no effect whatsoever on success and consistency against better teams.
The UGa staff & Team had to be grinning b/4 game and during it they had to be laughing since Clemson O is one-dimensional and not even consistent or good at that.
And, Cade is not a natural running QB but when he does occasionally get free he's average good.
So, all of this has to concern the O staff since the QB is key to success.
What thinks you with a much needed million $ suggestion at layman's wages?

he appears to have a little speed and a little shiftiness. Is he just scared, has no vision, or they've told him not to?

He’s actually very fast but, IMO, not much as far as shifty.
Can’t break tackles. Is still fumble prone, but at least he knows this by now.
We should almost never call for RPO or QB draw plays. G.Riley followed that ###### on Saturday in hopes of m8n8mizing catastrophic T/O’s. That’s the right thing for this offense; manage the game (no heroes) and let our defense quash the other team’s offense.

Can he not make the correct reads on the RPOs?

I still don't think Riley is running the offense.I think it's Dabo. Dabo continues to stick up for the offense while throwing the defense under the bus. Plus we are still seeing some, not all, of the same plays that were run before Riley became the OC.

I think Riley calls the plays but Dabo is heavily involved in the offensive gameplanning which I think is a mistake. Dabo has to be oversight not a micromanager. Let them know you want xyz matchups and then let Riley cook up the plan to make that happen, on critical downs Dabo should be giving input on game day. Other than that let Riley do what you hired him for. Otherwise kicking streeter to the curb was a waste and tbh I seriously wonder if streeter was alot better than given credit for bc he schemed up a nice run game with a bad QB situation.

agree. OL and WR Coaching was the biggest issue. Fired Streeter and brought in an OC, yet the offense is still the same. dumped the OL coach and it seems to have improved vs uga. However, the WRs/TEs still are sad. I used to be a Mafah fan, but he is slow and not a powerback.

I think this is probably right. I think Dabo forces Riley to use the "Clemson" playbook, and then he also tells him what to focus on and prioritize in the days leading up to the game. Riley might well call the plays in most situations during the game, but he's playing within the world Dabo set for him. Someone on here compared it to us giving a Michelin chef the groceries he's allowed to use, and the recipe book he's allowed to use, but still requiring him to make Michelin level meals.
Dabo should have 0 control over the offense. He's not smart enough re: Xs and Os to do so. If Neff had any guts, he'd say "Look Dabo, I'm paying millions for Riley to be an offensive coordinator. He will be 100% in charge of the offense for now on. He's in charge. You're to manage the team."

Dabo definitely took over the scheme/play calling in the Coot game last year...

I am saying Riley may have been coat tailing a bit on Sonny Dykes.

Garrett Riley needs to run that offense had against TCU. Dabo needs to let him loose and let him do his job

There are many issues with the O, sadly. Cade is another underwhelming QB for us. Lack of development at WR(Grisham), OL has been mediocre to bad and Luke has to fix that, but will take time. Play calling…I have no idea what’s going on there, like most fans. I believe Dabo has some say so in it, but how much?

I liked Streeter and felt like he was handed a stale offense with a bad QB and over rated receivers. He had success as an OC elsewhere prior to Clemson. UGA must see something in him since he is on their staff now.
There has been zero improvement in the offense since the Riley hire. He is either a bust or Dabo is not allowing for much change.

My guess wouild be he was overrated, but he did have competent QB help. And as far as Swinney calling the plays, a$$i9, you don't pay over a mill to a coach and let him take orders. That is stupid, Riley calls the plays, he just does not have much to work with.

I think Dabo has a hand in designing every play that is in the playbook. I’m not an offensive coordinator, but to me, the plays look the same as they have since 2021. When Riley came in, he made the playbook smaller, so they aren’t walking around with the Waffle House menu anymore.
Riley runs the offense in practice and calls the plays during the games. Dabo has veto power on each play that is called during the game as well.
I think Dabo is more than happy to pay a yes man $1 million. It sounds like the team does a good job of running the plays in practice, so Riley is doing his job.
We just don’t have the elite players anymore that are needed to make our extremely conservative play book work in games. It’s like we try to make the players fit our offense vs making an offense that fits our players.

2022’s offensive stats were better than 2021, 2023, and so far 2024. Go look it up…I don’t come up with this stuff. It’s just facts. Streeter was only OC for the 2022 season.
