I am not even sure where to begin......but maybe the definition of TOP would be a good place. My understanding is this refers to the uppermost point, the pinnacle, nothing above only below. For USCjr to be TOP tier, the SEC would only have two tiers. Considering they were third in their division, that is a tough sell given the fact Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M are on the other side. Maybe bottom of the top tier in a two tier SEC is a better description.
Now to the HOF coach, I do believe that is more associated with his success at Florida than his one division title which ended in a 39 point loss in the championship game creditials from his current per-retirement stop. Any chance anybody can name a coach that started there an developed into a success? Heck, we had Heisman at one point.
Baseball is their claim to fame, but they are so desperate to be a national brand in football that gets overlooked. Even with USC and the Kiffin disaster, the nation only knows one USC on the gridiron.
The beauty of the Clemson campus and the family atmosphere of our teams will always win out. There is no area USCjr compares in the overall picture. Time will return order to our rivalry given the fact we keep focus on building and progressing as a individual entity rather than using a cult (SEC) to define us. If I remover correctly, Wofford have them quite a game last year and Furman has actually beaten them in Willie Brice.

I guess they'd consider Fresno St. or Iowa top tier programs? They had cups of coffee in the top 15 too.

I remember Citadel beating them 45-21 or so in the last 20 years.
They do have a lot of women though. 55% women compared to Clemson's 45%. There aren't enough Clemson women to go around, so some of us end up marrying the best ones from Carolina.

Not that winning a NC isn't nice, I'd love for Clemson to do that. But Clemon did win NCs in Soccor and Golf without the same fanfare the Gamecocks showed when they won the baseball NC. Baseball is just not that ig of a deal in the college game. Never has been. It does get some play on ESPN when there is nothing else on, and when the playoff are here, but even then it barly makes money.
