Clemson doesn't have "the clout" NC State apparently has

Not sure why as they haven't done anything in the last 30 years to deserve it. I guess the fact the desire to be a basketball school helps. We have a hard time making the tourney when we clearly deserve it, much less a season that is borderline

I agree, our record at the end of the year could look very much like NC State's did last year. The only thing that I fear will keep us from the tournament is our free-throw percentage. We shot free-throws well enough today to move up from #300 to #274 in the free-throw percentage rankings, but we are still very bad in that category. We have to avoid having any more games like FSU. If we had shot free-throws as well as the worst free-throw shooting team in the country (.582), we would have won that game.

6-3 the rest of the way is possible the way we are playing. 11-7 in the ACC, combined with wins over LSU and ARK puts us SAFELY in the dance. RPI would be in the 40's.

with one bad loss to South Carolina. And some good resume wins over other "bubble teams" like Arkansas, LSU, etc.

off of a bubble and into a tourney. AS another poster said, season killers is the word for them. One announcer was dead on when he explained that those games should, at the time, be much bigger for Clemson than Winthrop or Gardnew -Webb. Clemson's league will likely get six or seven bids to the dance and Clemson will be competing with about two or three teams for the last couple of bids. Withrop and Gardner-Webb, on the other hand, are in leagues that are going to get one team and that is it. So Winthrop and G-W know even way back in December that they are going to have to win their conference championship tournament. No matter how many they win or lose, win 20 or lose 20, they have to win that conference tournament. The game against Clemson means nothing to their chances. Clemson, however, can lose an NCAA bid every year in November if they keep on losing to schools like that. Consequently, those are huge games for schools like Clemson.

Yep. Not sure why we start so slow under Brad.

He appears to be a solid coach whose teams play hard and improve as the season goes forward. He would be better served playing Top 10 competition early season instead of Withrop and Gardner Webb if we are going to lose anyway. At least get "a quality loss"

Unless the losses are seen as early-season anomalies...

...and a team in the Top 6 of the conference with two wins in the tourney will not be left out of the Dance. It's a tall order, but if the Tigers are for real, then it is well within their hands.
