Any sports watches gurus around here?

I’m thinking of buying a Garmin 165 or the Garmin 255. I’m an avid runner but not all that tech savvy. Just want easy to use and a good gps accuracy for running and hiking. Currently have Apple Watch 2. Any thoughts?

Honestly I have the 255 in hand. Delivered yesterday. Feeling a little overwhelmed by it but I think I’m starting to get it. I was wondering if I should return it for the 165 because it’s supposed to be more user friendly. But I think I’ll try to hang in there with the Garmin 255 over the 165 because it’s supposed to have better gps under tree canopy, etc. Do you agree with that? Got experience with it?

Whew that sucker sounds like way more watch than I need. What made you upgrade? What’s your primary use?

I want another, but I cannot get my back rehabbed enough to start running again.
I always went middle of the line, 240 (I think) was the last one I got. The high end ones were nice, but too much for what I wanted. Great thing about them is they needed charging every 3-4 days, not daily like the Apple Watch. And they lasted through a 50k, Apple Watch would most certainly die through a 6 hour run, IMO.

Yeah the Apple Watch battery is just ridiculous. It’s hard to get through the day without losing battery. Some days after I run at first light the wife wants to go hiking. On days I do both forget it. The Apple Watch is 100% going to die on the hike. So I hear you about the 50k. No way Apple makes it to the end of that!!

I pay attention to the heart rate on the watch but I’ve gotten to where I rely more on the talk test if I’m trying to stay down in zone 2.
