Saban doing things the right way

Interesting take. He knows his collective can compete but isn’t signing contracts. I think this is one case where Swinney and Saban really agree.

On the other hand I’m sure the collective will happily show you an estimate on how much players at Alabama can make.

If you listen to them, Dabo and Saban agree more often that some people think. Both seem to be genuinely interested in developing their players. Saban’s approach is more focused on football driving their future success while Dabo is more involved in developing the entire person but they both care about the future success of their players. The rant Saban went on last year about spoiled, entitled fans also sounded very much like Dabo. I was not a Saban fan when he dumped the Dolphins to go to Alabama but watching him over the last 5-6 years I have developed a lot of respect for him. College football would be in a better place if there were more people like him and Dabo making decisions.

I think sometimes we forget they're friends

and undoubtedly speak about these things

Yep, believe they have homes in FL in same area & socialize.

Maybe SPuD sold them those vacation homes, on an island hopefully, by enticing them to a free fishing trip & only 2% Realtor fees!

LOL!

Tigs vs Tide (2-2 in CFP and 2-1 Tigers in Natty).

we collectively passed and allowed. Thats what College Football is now. I don't know why people think we're still operating on the same playing field. When the whacko Gov of California Gavin Newsome (who needed attention and some publicity) passed the NIL bill in California he essentially nuked college football. College football elite's will now be ran by these sleazy, cesspool of quick cash oligarchs that will dictate who wins our championships our conference titles and our coaches will be led by these people. In 5 years there will be consultant groups (NIL mafia heads) that will be the face of college football. You either pony up to these scoundrels or you fight for the crumbs. Education is now irrelevant..its about bucks, quick cash, and publicity. Its going to get really sickening.

Somehow the education aspect has to supercede the NIL. I really think b/c of the NIL they should just create a minor league for NIL desiring players. The NIL money will go way down until that league gets legs (which will take years, similar to XFL or USFL) and hopefully the NCAA will figure a way to backload NIL earnings upon graduation or put a cap on amounts per team to participate. I don't know but its unsustainable as it stands today.

Alabama coach Nick Saban singled out Texas A&M for "buying" its top-ranked signing class and threw a spotlight on the unintended effect of name, image and likeness rights on recruiting during an event with local business leaders Wednesday night in Birmingham.

during an event with local business leaders Wednesday night

We didn't buy one player, all right? But I don't know if we're gonna be able to sustain that in the future

This "event" was simply Saban giving the local business leaders their marching orders.
