As a QB. I have not seen him play in a while and kind of shocked how shaky he has become.

Guess he’s too old to run around and play his backyard FB stick. Doesn’t work well when you lose your athletic edge.

That's fairly revisionist. He had two seasons with the Eagles w/ over 3k yards passing a 500 rushing. There are teams now that would mortgage their future with trade picks to guarantee two seasons of that.
Those were in his 10th & 11th year in the league which is an lengthy career. I don't think his legal issues had anything to do with his fall off after that.

I honestly don’t know why the chose to bench Fields. He’s been playing good ball this year.

Tomlin wanted to give him a shot before naming Fields the starter for the rest of the year. I don’t think tonight’s performance changes the long term plan.

Russ hasn’t been awful tonight, I just think Fields gives them way more. His ability to run would have been an asset plenty of plays tonight.
But I also won’t pretend to know as much as someone like Tomlin.

LOL, that may have been the unwritten rule back in the Tom Dirty Laundry days

in Dallas. The unwritten rule these days is, "What have you done for me LATELY?" QBs are on a shorter leash than they have ever been in the history of the NFL.
But, in all fairness, nobody can say Justin Fields has not been given a fair chance. He is just an adequate passer at best, a better than average runner. All through college, and even into the pros, pundits kept wanting to compare him to Trevor Lawrence on an equal footing, and there just IS no comparison. Trevor will win that battle, every single time.
I honestly believe that Tomlin is wanting Russell Wilson to play right now, because he knows that the time for them to get ANYTHING good out of him is, right now. Fields will still be around in a year or at most two, when Wilson is finally done, and done.

Wilson hasn't been good in like 5 years, he acted shocked when pete carrol wanted to demote him and then he had a personal office with the broncos that sean peyton put an end too.....then got traded to steelers.
He' been living the diva life for quite awhile, dancing with the stars, had a ridiculous makeover when he looked like Prince a few years back.......he doesnt care about football anymore just trying to convince teams he is, so he gets the big undeserved pay checks

This is actually his 13th season so your point is fair. I just haven’t seen him in a while.

Oh okay, well then even longer
He is actually looking good right now, the Jets are the 2nd ranked defense in the NFL. He’s got some good players like Najee and George Pickens around him.
And an elite defense in Pittsburgh. Very very similar to those Seahawks teams. Especially with the corners they have and their special teams making huge plays.
Wow the more I talk about it, it makes more sense. This is Russell Wilson, or really a lot of QBs, type of team that he thrives with.
But, he has been on some teams that have not helped him. At the Seahawks, he did indeed make players better around him, but he had lots of playmakers. Marsha win Lynch for one. And Pete Carroll at his best.
Not to mention legendary defenses that included Byron Maxwell

Yep, the first quarter and a half when I posted was rough, but he played very well once he got warmed up.

At the end of the day Pittsburgh won. Not so sure that happens with Fields. Fields never looks good when I catch one of his games be it when he was in Chicago or now at Pittsburgh.

I posted when he had led them to 2 FGs and was looking shaky. Sorry I didn't have your crystal ball to fall back on. Pretty easy to criticize when you have the benefit of seeing the whole game...
