COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland has lost a fourth quarterback to a season-ending injury.
Coach Randy Edsall announced Sunday that Caleb Rowe has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and is done for the year.
The injury occurred in Saturday's 20-17 loss to Boston College. It was the first college start for the true freshman.
Edsall says, "I feel awful for Caleb."
Quarterback C.J. Brown tore an ACL in August and was replaced by Perry Hills, who tore an ACL in a game against North Carolina State on Oct. 20. Devin Burns broke his foot in that game and is also out for the year. That means either converted linebacker Shawn Petty or converted tight end Brian McMahon will start at quarterback this Saturday against Georgia Tech.
A converted linebacker or a converted tight end!?!

That really sucks. You have to feel terrible for the whole team. How do 4 different QBs go down with season-ending injuries? Talk about bad luck.

Not really.... The refs were on the take during that UNC game. This is just insanely bad luck for Merryland, and kills them for the year.

Not really big fan of Md or their fans.
May Hurricane Sandy will wash a little of the stank off that place.

Feel pity for they Maryland football program. I hope we beat them 90-0. Those fans are the most obnoxious a-holes in the conference. It is a strange chain of events. Maybe Edsell needs to look at how his is using them.

Who would be Clemson's 5th or 6th QB option?
Oct 29, 2012, 8:24 AM

They've now lost 5 qb's if you count Obrien transferring to Wisconsin before the season after it was clear he was behind Brown on the depth chart..
Can you imagine if Clemson had this kind of luck... Cole Stoudt left before the season to transfer (Davey Obrien) Tahj was lost to an ACL tear in the summer (CJ Brown) Chad Kelly tore an ACL early in the season (Perry Hillis) Morgan Roberts broke his foot (Devin Burns) Who would be QB 5? Whoever it is, they're lost to an ACL tear (Caleb Rowe) Who would be QB 6? We might be converting a LB or TE at that point too...

Certainly. Almost any team would.

It's almost irresponsible to have that many QB's on your roster. Because, hey, who loses five QB's? No one, right?
It's honestly amazing that they are 4-4.
