Haven't posted here, but look at it every day, would like to see our players do as Renfrow did after a TD, he said, he did he his job & flipped the football to the refree. What say ye?

I would always like to see players do that but that’s just not the way it’s normally done now. It will be nice when we do get to see a guy act like that. What I get tired of even more so is when a guy makes one tackle and just about busts an artery, running off to himself flexing and screaming. But I’m an oldtimer and showboats weren’t tolerated very well when I was young.

That's probably my favorite but let the guys have some fun to an extent. You know they enjoy it.

That's called "Acting like you've been there before." As in,

"Yea, I just caught the winning TD to beat you Elephunts with 1 second left on the clock, it ain't no big thing, it's WHAT WE DO!"
That action probably broke Bama hearts more than if Hunter had slobbered all over himself.

I think Renfrow was always tasked with getting the ball off the ground and hand it to refs.

Even on TD’s that didn’t involve him, whenever a player threw the ball down, he would go get it most of time and toss it to a ref. I haven’t paid much attention to it the last couple of years to see if another player was tasked with that or if it was just a Renfrow thing. I had it in my mind that the Ray Ray drop against Troy forced Dabo to task a player to do that. It could’ve easily cost us that game in our natty year.

Man, I just about blew a fuse as that happened

I don’t get nearly as worked up about sports and things I have no control over as I did as a teenager/20 something, but that kind of showboating still gets me. You’d think seeing it done as it has been plenty of times there’s no way you would be the next ONE. Glad he’s found a home in the NFL but I forever think of that play when I hear his name. I’d make him watch Barry Sanders TDs for a month.

2016 against Troy. They put up a heck of a fight. Ray Ray had a 75 yd punt return for a TD except he dropped the ball at the 1 celebrating early. Owensb01 mentioned it above.

The good thing about Wilkins was he was usually celebrating with or for somebody else. I’ve always thought it would be great to be his teammate.

we have had this act in place since Bowden was our coach. Our players are instructed to hand the ball to the ref after every play so they do not have to pick it up themselves.

While this certainly does not apply to touchdowns. One hack for the Hurry Up No Huddle is to get the back back to the ref as soon as possible so the ball can be spotted and the whistle can blow more quickly for the next play. Sometimes on first downs when you see Dabo get in someones ear about too much celebration is not a sportsmanship coaching moment, it is a "why are you slowing us down" teaching moment.

But he made one mistake! He should’ve kept that football! At the time I’m sure it was just a natural reaction. Muscle memory. But I bet afterwords his family and friends were like dude, why didn’t you keep that ball!
