Looking ahead at our 2023 football schedule

Our toughest games at this point appear to be Florida State, Notre Dame, NC State, and South Carolina. I think we will at least split these, with the likely scenario being 1-2 losses out of this group.
Assuming no unexpected losses, we should be a top 10-15 team again this year.
I expect our offense to be improved due to the new scheme, while our defense will probably be about the same if not slightly worse due to key losses from last year.
Curious to hear everyone else's thoughts at this point.

We had 2 problems last year: 1) Our offensive play calling under Streeter was bad. He would try to impose his will by taking deep shots with DJ instead of following the hot hand with Shipley. I was honestly boggled at how he called games and credit him with our losses, first and foremost.
2) DJU was not good in games. I have no doubt that he was a practice All-American. And I think a lot of his downfall should be credited to Streeter. But not all. DJU struggled with hitting open receivers. He struggled with managing pressure. And I don't think he was able to audible us out of bad situations.
Both of those issues have been addressed. Garrett Riley will have more talent on this Clemson team than he had with TCU. He has a system that works and the players that can pull it off. If he were our OC last season and started DJU every game, we would've been 1-2 wins better.
So is Klubnik better than DJU at this point? I don't know for sure, but he appears to be more accurate and better able to work through his progressions. His arm strength is less than DJU, but not so much that it's a weakness. If we're picking teams in a pickup game, I'm taking Klubnik.
Is Riley better than Streeter? 100% upgrade there. He took a good TCU team to the Championship. His offense absolutely scorched teams last year.
We experienced a little improvement with Addition by Subtraction, but adding Riley and Klubnik will make us much better.
The Spring Game exists as a form of entertainment and the continued evaluation of players by the coaching staff. The 17-9 results from the 2016 Spring Game didn't impress many who wanted to see a fireworks show, but that team brought home the trophy. Spring games never tell you if a team is any good (or preseason NFL games for that matter). It's an evaluation opportunity and a decent reason to visit Clemson on a beautiful Spring day to have a little fun.
I think we'll be favored in every game we play in the Fall. We could make a run to the CFP. But that's entirely up to the players and staff. The talent is there, though.

Streeter would've been at -1.5 and DJ at -1. That's how I think of last year's team.

I'd love to say we go undefeated and thump everyone from November onward similar to the 2018 team...
However, until we see this team in action against someone other than themselves, I think your assessment would be accurate. Going 2-2 or 3-1 against the toughest teams wouldn't surprise me.
1. Offensively, I believe we'll take a step forward and probably see more games where we empty the benches against teams we should beat without having to leave the starters in til deep in the 4th.
2. Defensively, while we lose Bresee, Simpson, and Murphy, I think our depth will be waaaaaay better this year. Also, I think Wes takes a step forward as a coordinator and we potentially see a defense that we were expecting last year more than we think.
That said, if we started today, I'd say we go 11-1 or 10-2.
FSU would be an early season toss up loss since we tend to start slow in September and ND would be the other assuming Sam Hartman steps in and is immediately successful.
NC State and SC can be trap games if we're not careful but this season is a revenge trip to Raleigh so I don't think the players that were here forgot what happened a couple years ago there. Columbia will be rocking since it'll (most likely) be a night game but I think Dabo will have the boys ready to go

Looking at the schedule, The first three are gimmes. After a 3-0 start:
FSU - Valley will be rocking. I think Tigers gut one out but could lose.
Cuse - The Orange will be a headache as usual. Prepare for heartburn but Tigers certainly can and should win, but it's cuse .
Wake - Tigers should be able to run for 300 yards and coast.
Miami - I hear they're supposed to be good but I have to see it to believe it.
NC State - They'll be amped and there will be some heartburn but Tigers can and should win, but Notre Dame comes the next week so ...
Notre Dame - Valley will be rocking and probably another classic in the offing. I think Tigs win.
Georgia Tech - Walk in the park. Tigs roll.
Nort Carolina - Tigs will win in a shootout. Clemson D will make a few more stops. Probably a 40ish to 20ish game.
South Carolina - Clemson still has more talent and should win by being able to run (Rbs and qbs) but can't lose turnover battle and DBs can't get fall asleep.
My guess is 8-4 worst-case scenario in regular season... 11-1 best-case scenario. I'm thinking 10-2.

I do not see Clemson dropping two of the four that you listed. I have the team undefeated and in the playoff. Riley may be a one and done coach and he personally has a lot riding on this season. The running game is going to eat this season. The passing game just needs to be serviceable over the middle. Defensively, the Tigers will give teams nightmares. Going to be a great year.
