Remembering 3 recruiting misses that really worked out well for us

Here is a review of three big recruiting ‘misses’ that could not have worked out better for us.

Andre Greene - WR prospect out of VA for the 2023 signing class.
We wanted this guy BAD; a bigger WR at 6’ 2”+ that ran well. Mack Brown won out and Greene went to UNC. It was only then that we went to our fall back WR option. The late offer to Antonio Williams worked out for us.
(*). Andre Greene was mediocre at UNC; has since transferred to UVA where his play has … remained mediocre.
(***). Antonio Williams, with only two full seasons of college play (including a terrific true FR year) already has the NFL option to consider.

Korey Foreman - LB prospect out of CA for the 2020 recruiting class. All-World 5* LB prospect decided somewhat late in the process to spurn Clemson and go to the real USC. Tyrone Simpson decided that he’d be needed at Clemson and not be crowded out by Fireman.
(*). Korey Foreman, being undistinguished (to put it kindly) at USC, has emended up at Fresno, where he’s still playing in college at end of 2024. NFL stardom not in his future.
(***). Tyrone Simpson starred for 3 years at Clemson and was 2nd round NFL pick in 2023 draft. Simpson has 2 years of NFL under his belt.

Travis Shaw - DT prospect out of NC. This guy was a consensus 5* prospect and top 5 HS football prospect for 2022 signing class. Mack Brown beat us out again despite Clemson’s intense recruiting efforts.
(*). Travis Shaw has been an oversight bum his first 3 years at UNC and had hit the portal.
(***). Clemson bought a family meal of Bojangles chicken in response to missing out on Shaw. Clemson made out big time on this one.
