You don't put up 70. It's rude.
Clemson has the decency to stop at 63 even in a rivalry game. Or even 58 against Miami. Could easily have put up 70 in those and other games, but did not, because class.

It's a Big 12 mentality for sure. Even though they had not joined then, it's how they rolled going back to OU when they used to brag about dropping a "Half a Hundred" every week. The only one of the old Big 8 guys who usually avoided that was Tom Osborne. Pure class that man is imo. These days I only give TCU a pass since if they score 60 their opponents scored 56.

We were still running plays with 20 seconds left on the playclock majority of 2nd half to get reps. I dont think we just "stopped" at 58
Ppl who cry about running up the score, should stop watching sports

are sitting on the sidelines it is different.
It is the other teams job to stop you ... that said, pulling your first stringers when the game is out of hand shows not only good planning for the future, but good sportsmanship.
Yeah - our 3rd string was still putting up points, but it is a completely different scenario.

Agree. Barry Switzer of all people said it best. "You cant tell a 3rd string RB to NOT score when he might not ever get in a game again." I am fine with running up the score if its back ups in there and you are just running your offense. Throwing it deep on Lamar or Mississippi Tech with your starters in up by 45 is low, and does nothing for your back ups.

The one thing that still p!sses me off every time I think about that game is the 99 yard "fumble" return for a touchdown, which should never have been allowed. Whistle should have sounded on that play about 15 seconds before the "fumble" ever occurred. I still believe that game ends totally different if that play didn't happen.

we could not cover their outside run -- the entire night. They just kept running it and we kept not stopping it.
The defense just couldn't handle it.
The game was never in doubt.
The earlier poster is correct: b/c of that game no more Steele. Painful. PAINFUL!! But it worked out well for us in the long run.

but when your starter is still throwing passes in the 4th qtr with 6 minutes left in the game up 63 to 27, you deserve every bad thing you get.
