Once the strater has to come out no one can take an easy breath! Doesn't really matter who he brings in a cluster #$%# is not far behind. Heck bring in 30 and cull out the weak links!

2022 Class alone:
Brock Porter (RHP) was rated #7 overall prospect nationally by Perfect Game. But he got drafted.
Tristan Smith rated #24 overall prospect nationally by Perfect Game
Joe Allen rated #122 overall prospect by PG
Noah Samol rated #234 overall prospect by PG
2023 class alone:
Aidan Knaak rated #102 overall national prospect by perfect game out of high school
Justin Leguernic (LHP) rated #107 overall prospect by perfect game.
Chance Fitzgerald (RHP) rated #211 overall prospect by PG.
Drew Titsworth rated #281 overall prospect by PG
Luke Brown (RHP) rated #500 overall prospect by PG
And 2024 we already have 7 commitments from pitchers.
They are good pitchers. Something is off elsewhere

Or maybe they have not played up to their potential. Wonder if there are outside interferences with the way they are playing such as partying, girl friends, etc.

Aluminum bats and, now

20 seconds between pitches...and, limited throws to first base. Pitchers have a LOT more to think about now than ever. Oh, and freshmen dealing with a 50-60 game season, versus maybe 30 in high school. That's a big adaptation.
I despise aluminum bats most of all.

The bats need to be rolled back, no doubt. Or the balls needed to be deadened. One or the other.
Caglianone from Florida hit an oppo home run last night on a half swing that should have only sent the ball 200 ft.

I saw one replay earlier this year where the pitcher through high and behind the batter. It hit the fat part of the bat while it sat on the kid’s shoulder and left the park.

Bats and balls are all wonky… it’s gotta be something for sure.
In 2016 when Seth Beer won National player of the year he hit 18 HR and there were only 7 guys in America that season that hit 20+ HR. This afternoon I looked at the stats and there are 20 guys with at least 20+ HR, and most of these teams have 10 or more regular season games left. Charlie Condon from Georgia tied the BBCOR HR record with 33 HR in 46 games. It took Caglianone 71 games to set it last year.

I think they juiced the balls too much this year. But while we are top 15 HR batting team this year, our bullpen gave up a Grand Slam to batter that had 3 HRs all season. And another batter that only had 1HR hit a solo. We are giving teams hits with the bottom of their batting lineup when its critical. 2 batters with .180avg got into the hitting last night.
I don't think the bats changed from last year but I have heard the commentators suggest the balls are flying further this yr therefore more juiced.

Something is off elsewhere
It takes time to develop pitching. These guys are used to just throwing hard and getting outs. Now, 1-9 can hit their fastball, so it's about mixing pitches and changing speeds.

I think it’s just going to be different in different games
College baseball is so random
The only concrete thing we all know is that our team is deeper and more talented than almost every other team in this country.
That does not mean it will play out that way because it’s baseball. College baseball.
I think the pitching plays up to competition though.
Barlow pitched excellent against Georgia. And you could see during that late season run and in the ACC Tournament last year when they started to pitch better.
It’s about trends, team confidence, situations they are put in, and a whole lot more I cannot possibly sit here and discuss all of it

It is still only Year 2...RELAX.
It can take up to 5 years to build a recruiting pipeline in baseball. Top players begin committing freshman/sophomore year of HS and recruiting classes are nearly complete going fall of their senior years. Fact is we are #2 in the country and our team ERA is #19.
We should be grateful for Bakich and bringing our proud baseball program back to prominence so quickly.

We should get some quality recruits with our ranking if we don't mess things up in the end.

The critiques of this baseball team have become completely untethered from reality. Our fanbase is either truly moronic or actual Clemson fans have become an outlier on this message board.

Except Brownell underachieved for a decade and warrants his criticism - which would probably be softening if his advocates weren't the biggest tools on here. They've been telling us "wait till next year" since the Obama administration - literally. That's the dichotomy. Relentless defense of mediocrity while silent as our good coaches get trashed. Those are the prevailing voices.

Clemson is 19th in ERA. Only 9 power 5s ahead of Clemson.
The metal bat is the bigger issue.
Over 100 teams average 7+ runs per game.

Inconsistency is our issue more than a lack of talent. Guys who have been dependable all season or in previous seasons (Marchal, Mahlstedt, Garris, Titsworth, etc.) have 2-3 good outings and then one outing where they give up 4 runs in 0.2 innings.
Austin Gordon has a sub 2.00 ERA and 8 saves since moving out of the rotation and into the bullpen full-time. He’s been a real bright spot. He’ll scare the crap out of you in doing so, but he’s been able to come in and slam the door shut these last two months or so.
