Zack Bailey

Hear me out here, guys.
Clemson has a glaring weakness at LG right now. He could be immediately plugged into the starting lineup, in between Battle and Guillermo. It's well known that Norton simply cannot go up against nationally regarded top DL with any semblance of success.
He could legitimately be sporting a 2015 ACC championship as well as a National championship ring next year, and be able to claim being a critical part of that winning product.
He'll be away from his party boy buds, and put in somewhat of an unfamiliar and uncomfortable situation as a result (the best way to grow as a person and improve your craft).
He'll otherwise be on a Gatwick team who'll be forced to abort the run mid-way through most 2nd quarters in games bc his team will be playing catch-up ball through the air (minimizing his ability to display his specialty/best feature - a run blocking machine).
I honestly think he may be wavering, and seriously starting to consider inking with the Tiger's, and here's why.... usc jr is scrambling for OL prospects bc I think they can see the writing on the wall. It's been mentioned that Bailey is the only guy left who are coaches are still tracking, but nothing has yet to materialize there. If I were Bailey, I'd look to be the guy who secures the best O-Line class Clemson has ever signed, and make a lot of noise in the playoffs and through awards and all-american teams over the next 4 years, as opposed to being on a bottom tier, middle of the pack losing team that gets garbage ratings and zero recognition.
I'd think long and hard about it.

I don't know that he's a day 1 starter. It takes an extremely special kid to start on day 1 on a Power 5 D1 offensive line.

He'd definitely have to work hard for it. Study the playbook everyday after Feb 4th and come in physically a bitter bigger and more agile, but with what we have in place there now, and 2 cupcake games start in out that will give him plenty of live action, it's nowhere closed to being out of the realm of possibility.

I've said it many times as well... OL and QB are the 2 hardest positions to play as freshman and be good. DW was a rare breed, and so are others like Laremy Tunsil at Ole Miss and Cam Robinson at AL.

Nobody is starting on OL day one unless there are some major injury and or talent issues w older players. Every year someone has a guy who is "going to start". Never happens. Wont herre or at USC. Him or anyone else

You don't start a true freshman OL unless things are bad. Things aren't currently outstanding on the OL, but I'm not sure you can make the argument for "emergency, start the freshy". He'd get man handled.

Also the Ole Miss did as well. While you could argue the Ole Miss was a dumpster fire you can't say that about Bama.

Until I see otherwise, he's SC's to lose.
Hope we can turn him. Bailey.
In return, I don't see any true fr, OL starting this year. Cracking the 2 deep is goin' be tough.

You know some recruits really don't want to go to a school in a small town, they like the "big city" and what it has to offer "in their opinion" and others just don't relate to Dabo or anyone on his staff.
In some cases it just has nothing to do with potential playing time, or championships, etc.
It is what it is.
Bailey ain't coming.

Fruh and Hyatt are both OTs. Not used to pulling on run plays whereas it's already 2nd nature for Bailey.
Hyatt Bailey Guillermo Crowder Fruh would be Alabama good along the interior. We're talking 5-10 seconds do DW to find an open receiver, and holes 10 feet wide for Feaster to burst through into the second level of the D and before breaking an LBs ankles and racing a DBM to the pylon.

a 4* offensive recruit on signing day, so I'd love for it to be Bailey, however, I'm not getting my hopes up that it's him. He would be a huge get considering he is a true OG - our OL class is great but we have no true OG's, and he fits the bill. Things to keep in mind though, is that the Coots seem to be scrambling for OL commits is also because they have had 3 decoot with Paris Palmer, Austin Clark, and Jozie Milton. Also, Pellage is getting serious attention from FL and is from FL. So, they are trying to replace those guys as well as preparing themselves for the potential flip of Pellage. Also, the inevitable of some of their recruits not qaulifying...
I'd love Bailey because he's a baller, and to steal another from the Coots, but I don't see it happening.. I'd love to be proved wrong though!

I'd take a 5 year senior over a true freshman and day of the week. Plain and simple...better knowledge of the system, better ability to read an opponents D, and 5 years in the weight room. Hard to argue against that
We beat your coots this year with Reid Webster, and he was somewhat of a liability all season

Norton cost us the FSU game with a high snap, as well as one other that I can't recall. No NFL future, most money he can make at this point is in throw in a game where someone with a million on the line, gives him a $50-$100K cut.

would try to throw a game ... well, you just need to stop posting.
This was a reasonably thread until you started getting totally stupid.
Just for the record, in no way did Norton "cost us the FSU game" ... he made a bad mistake on the errant snap.
His mistake cost us potential points, but so did the errors of numerous other players at other times.
The FSU loss was the epitome of a total team effort.
And as to the original subject of the thread ... no way is Zack Bailey flipping and even if he did, he would not start from day one. Several of our OL early enrollees may very well make the two deep, but none start from day one.

So ur saying that Clemson's recruiting isn't good enough to flip Bailey? You look like the Coot to me. Pumping up Scar's recruiting, I think we have all seen how their recruiting is going.
Onderkid, Norton didn't cost Clemson the FSU game. Total team loss there, that one play didn't lose it.
MacLain and Norton are not the answers on the O-line, they've shown that. Reid Webster was very much improved, Dabo said so himself many times during the year. Joe Gore, MacLain, and Norton are all backups. Best case scenario, these early enrollee freshmen get in here and learn the system, beef up and get limber enough to handle D1 linemen over the course of 4 quarters.
They didn't come in early for nothing

you seem to be saying two things at once ... even though it's not out of the realm of possibility, no I don't think we will flip Zack Bailey.
And yes, the OL who came in early got a jump on things and for that reason alone, some of them will probably avoid a RS and make the 2-deep, but they won't start in my opinion. At least not on day one.

Jan 22, 2015, 5:56 AM
[ in reply to Webster was the most improved guy along our line this year. Phenomenal job. ] |

Lakip missed 2 kicks, Stoudt under threw Leggett for a wide open TD, Alexander fell down while covering the FSU receiver which resulted in a TD and Davidson fumbled it on the game winning drive. If they paid Norton, why wouldn't he give up a few sacks or have a bad snap more than once? That was a team loss, no way you blame that on the coaches or players getting paid.

My gosh, you're right. Probably one of the same guys who burned me at the stake last offseason for daring to say that Hump's superb blocking ablility and knowledge of the offense, plus his ability to catch and take every screen pass thrown his way for 3 yards - could ever have his playing time jeopordized by a true freshman like scott, "who could break one for six from anywhere on the field so long as he learns to block (simple task that's on the coaches to develop)."
You see the 43% next to my handle? Ignorant posters who know nothing about football, such as yourself, are what caused it. Keep TDing every post you know nothing of, though. Great way to up the football IQ level on this board.

I highly doubt it would. Bailey has seen everything clemson has to offer and didn't commit. He has been to Clemson many times, hung out with players, recruits and had a good relationship with Caldwell. If he still wants to choose the coots after all of that then honestly, i personally don't want him back. Some of you will disagree but i just don't know why you would want to play for the coots after everything clemson has to offer plus the direction both programs are heading. Flame away

I knew Eric Harman well. I roomed with the GA that recruited him and was the main reason he came to Clemson. He started as a red-shirt freshman, not as a true freshman.

I dearly believe this kid is wavering.... If this post is correct, and I believe it is....Bailey along with Hyatt could DEFINITELY help us next year. I think Zack is the surprise (possible) that some in the press speak of. I know he was close with our comitts at Shrine Bowl. Love to see him give us a Dwayne Allen signing day surprise.
