anyone think we could compete with these 4 CFP teams? Sad to say…..but they are on a different level then we are and if Dabo doesn’t see that he has his head in the sand.

These teams are faster and more physical than Clemson.

Their offenses are faster.
Not so their defenses (except for OH State and UGA, which have defenses that are both faster and more physical than ours).

We could barely compete vs Tennessee's 2nd string

We don't belong on the same field as these 4 teams. How did we fall this far, this quickly?!

The portal has changed the game and Dabo refuses to adapt.

We selectively pursue star players in the portal. Just because we don’t hear about this very often does not mean that we aren’t trying.
Did you notice MI’s All American center (Olutawami)?
Clemson was in the ‘portal sweepstakes’ for this guy when he decided to leave UVA.
We did not get him.
Again, Clemson does not publicize who we are targeting in the portal (and neither does any other program). We are not going to pursue high end talent that have reputations as trouble makers, poor students, or openly ‘highest NIL bidder wins’ type players. We do pursue top end talent.
When considering our criteria, and the fact that there are many more wealthy programs that also want this caliber of player, it is easy to understand why our ‘portal haul’ is small. We have yet to land an elite player from the portal, but that doesn’t mean that Clemson is totally disinterested.

We are good, not elite.
Need an o-line, better routes, better secondary.

We desperately need a way way better OLine. I don’t care how good your QB is, if you can’t protect him and you also can’t run the ball effectively, then you are screwed.

I still think that TCU is not a great team after witnessing Baylor march up and down the field on them (in the +/- 300 yards rushing realm) and also scoring plenty of points.
Texas Tech had TCU on the ropes before a very bad Q4 call went against TX Tech on a 3rd and very long … deep in TCU territory … that deflated Tx Tech and TCU went on to score TD. Another TCU TD followed soon thereafter, and TCU won what could have easily been a home loss for them.
MI was both over rated and lucky all year (esp. Purdue game); I’m very glad that TCU rang half-a-hundred on them.
Sure, this year both TCU and MI were easily better than us. So were another dozen + teams. This year.
But only OH State, UGA, and Bama are truly on an enduring “different level” than us.
Teams like TN, TCU, USC, and some others are not going to get the commitment from too many of their NIL hungry portal heroes to finish playing their seasons. Championships will be a very rare occasion among the group of teams that are built that way. Those teams that rose on the backs of such portal players will have sporadic 10 + win seasons, but as far as being on a “different level” than us on a consistent basis … no.

TCU is just having a magical year. They may never be in a final again.

TCU has enough money to be a player with NIL. Don't count them out for being the new 2015 version of us. Dykes is a heck of a coach and they are going to recruit at a high level in the future. Michigan is also turning into a perennial power.
We are currently a 2nd or 3rd tier program. It's nothing wrong with that. I just don't want us to be satisfied with it.

I agree with the 2015 version of Clemson comment. TCU has picked up a WR and OT from Bama out of the portal for next season. I do not know if there are others from other schools. The Frogs have Texas money too. The team is well coached.
