REF: Parking 2023

Sent to IPTAY after moving our parking choices AGAIN:
We are just devastated that our parking spot is getting moved again. We have given nonstop to IPTAY and had season tickets since 1966, giving at the Howard level continually. It seems that IPTAY has forgotten the Alumni who have given tirelessly through good and bad, had seats and memberships for decades.
On top of not giving enough....for 57 years, everytime we get bumped, there are fewer reserved lots to choose from. These people you are bumping are getting up in age and find walking further each year, a near impossible task. My Mother is now 85. Getting her either up Pit hill, or walking the long way around through Shotgun alley has made her choose to miss the earlier games, when it is hot. That being said, our spot on Lambda street has been tenable.
While you work out of a fancy new building, that was paid for by the money of hard working people, you should do well to remember who has paid their dues. Three of us have degrees from Clemson, one has 3 degrees and still works for the University. As IPTAY continues to court money, those of us who have a love for all things Clemson, are slowly seeing that our hard earned monies are not good enough after years of giving and hundred of thousands of dollars, in education money, IPTAY donations and ticket purchases.
As a Combat Veteran and Clemson Army ROTC/Rangers/DMG, I am embarrassed and ashamed of all things IPTAY. I spent 23 years wishing I could be at the games with my parents who continued to buy seats that they couldn't fill, so that when I retired we Rally in the Valley as a family again. I had a discussion with my Mother today, and unfortunately, because IPTAY has set out to either bleed us dry or price us out in favor of Corperate donors and overpaid Bandwagon Fans, that 2023 may just be the last time we give to the institution that we all love so much.
Before you apologize, telling me that seat equity....there's that pesky word again...changing college athletics environment, etc forces the changes, keep in mind that without the long giving and supporting fans, none of this would be possible. As an former Army officer, I know that the Army exists to support the lowest ranking soldiers. I exist for him, he is not there for me.
As you all live the life of lux and glory in the Ivory IPTAY tower, you should all give thanks for people like my parents. Shame on you all.
We do not need a second parking pass, as we believe in not attributing to the traffic and parking issues. The app would not let me skip that section without making a choice. Please allot the second parking pass to another deserving family.
Thank-you,
Signed

You are not the first having this issue. 2 years ago my buddy. I was in TigerPark with a buddy that is 100% disabled vet. I had called and tried to arrange either bussing, pickup location, something easier that taking him from Tiger Park back out to the Handicapped parking at Church on 28 or out to the 123 pickup. There was supposed to be a pickup close to Esso which would be close but couldn't find it. So I left tiger park and drove him to stadium and got close with handicapped tag but had to drive back to parking. 2 hrs of him sitting and waiting for me to get back. On way out, thankfully at halftime I spent 20min and found him a golf cart ride to Tiger Park, took 10min and a $20 tip. It was just more frustrating than needed to be. He is a Veteran with bad hips and can walk 10yds. I wasn't asking for help but was going thru chemo so I was happy for assistance.
My buddy, long time donator, wife is Nurse graduate but her dad was big time booster and we still had issues getting support to get my buddy to his seat. All these closer parking areas being used creates more issues for our older attendees

Construction taking place on campus the parking situation has become a nightmare. If you have visited the campus recently you have observed what I am referring to. Parking is one of the main issues at all IPTAY meeting that I attend. These issues are being addressed now but there is no quick fix. I am sure that we will see a parking deck constructed soon. An area near the baseball stadium is being considered. Your concerns are certainly important to IPTAY and I’m sure help is “on the way”. But it will take a few years to resolve this problem.

IPTAY doesnt care. I figured that out with the basketball parking this year. Its like screaming into the void.
Best option would be to take your second pass and sell it to offset your IPTAY dues.

We stopped the high $$$$ giving last year and gave up our 4 seats for the very reasons you stated. The IPTAY Donor is way down the priority list anymore, somewhere below Bells & Whistles, Taj Mahal Facilities and stainless steel slides. Sad.

Sadly we had to give up our contributions and four season tickets a few years back for the same reasons. Old grads can’t walk a half mile to and fro and the costs kept skyrocketing.

Same here. Get moved every year. I’ve always thought that the total cumulative giving is unfair Those of us that gave $100 in the seventies get passed over by a 20 something whose parents give a big hunk of change in their name. With all the computers up there a formula could be worked out to assign a dollar value to years of service and also assign the value of $100 in 1979 to be an inflation adjusted value in 2023. Would not be very hard
My other concern is the number of associate athletic directors up there. I’m in business and when I get busy I just work harder and more Seems like up there when things get busy they just hire another associate so they can still make their 3 o’clock tee time. Money is easy to spend when folks just give it to you

Seemingly every new project is done at the expense of parking, and no replacement parking has been included in any of them.
Once again, I call on the University to approve and implement a huge Parking Garage Project, in the student lot down the hill from Earle Hall. Even a single deck above the existing parking would more than recover the spaces that have been lost, and continue to be lost in new projects like the Tiger Walk Project. That one in particular, I say (blasphemously to some, I am sure), is just a pretty boondoggle, and was not needed. It is just an example of the extremes schools will go to in keeping up with the "Arms Race" in recruiting, etc.

It is a shame that IPTAY has not focused on those true fans that have given so much over the years. We have some great people in IPTAY but they are not able to visualize Clemson Football decreasing in popularity some day. If the team has a few bad seasons, the part time fans will leave and the stadium will be for the faithful supporters. I learned rather quickly that if I didn't donate many more thousands, that I could not be able to get decent seats or parking. Many of my friends have stopped attending games because of the costs and parking situation. I hope that this new Lot 5 construction will payoff somehow because it sure put many folks on the outside of their walking capability.

We will all be parking in Sandy Springs. Basketball parking was a disaster this year. No school in the country would make the decision to close its biggest basketball parking lot before the season starts.

And also have no communication about it! The only way to find out when you call to ask where your pass was. It was absolutely shameful way to handle everything.
I wrote the “director” of parking and never got a response. IPTAY doesnt care one iota.

30+ year Itpay member and grad and I sent an email, called to follow up the next week and then finally walked through the Iptay office when I was in town one afternoon last summer. I had the place to myself and finally found some new marketing guy to "help/listen". Never got a follow up to my questions and decided to reup this year.
1 point for years of membership is a joke and the walking part is getting more of a challenge. The West years when we were "only" pulling in 63 to 65K per game for fans would have to happen before folks may come to value long time membership.

So let me ask this about the walking part of your question. Could you not park at snow and take the bus over to DV? I haven't tried that, but maybe would be less walking for those who cant.

But the only way we're going to compete with the Alabamas and Tennesees is if we continue to pump money into facilities and NIL, and that isn't going to happen with existing donors. IPTAY has to continually strategize how to incentivize new high dollar donors and if that means punting you guys a few more spots out, so be it. So you have to walk a little more. Big deal. It's healthy. And then you get to see some boys play at Clemson that otherwise would have gone to other programs. Money talks. And, unfortunately, legacy now walks. It's sad but that's life.

parking space I liked, it would soon go away. I finally picked something below my giving level just to get far enough out so that I could stay in one place for a while. I tell people that I park in Pendleton. That may be in jeopardy now. I too sent a letter saying that this may well be my last year. It is really mostly about my grandchildren now.
