that’s $3,000,000,000 (as in B) more than they’d allocated on their original budget!
And, a lot of postal employees made more income working overtime than they did working their normal full-time hours.
Saying..what do you think & say.

It sounds like the USPS doesn't have enough employees.

could subcontract the mail routes , run routes every other day, would save a yuge amount of money
doubtful anyone gets critical mail now, mostly junk mail and bills
raise the price of sending paper bills in the mail, many folks would start paying online
charge amazon, walmart, fedex, ups etc pay at least breakeven rates
lots of ways to do it cheaper/faster/better

Is the $25 billion the house is wanting to send supplemental? In other words, supposedly relief money due to the pandemic per House Dems? This isn't budgeted money being withheld? The article implies this. I am looking to see whether the AP article is labelled "opinion" or "analysis" because I am told that it's okay to present bias as news if you use those labels.
What the article also confirms, but does not explicitly say because authors are taking sides on the issue, is Trump will give the money for the P.O. if Dems will agree to his stimulus package.
Also, is there anybody who thinks, if given the option, that the democrats would not be for universal mail-in ballots?

I say it should cost ten times as much to mail a letter.

I say the people who use the postal service should pay for the service and not strap taxpayers with the burden of child support or that overgrown, poorly managed, union run government agency. I could name half a doz other bureaus which need the fat cut. CDC, FDA, EPA and the State Dept.

yeah, but think about all the people's hard earned pensions we could dump into the markets if we privatize the USPS? We should put Bain Capital on this right away.

responsible for fixing it before now.
Try walking into your boss’s office and blame a problem on the guy who left in 2016. Good luck with shirking accountability.

Is that for this budget year? Makes sense since COVID reduced staff and sent package delivery through the roof. Couldn't foresee that in the budget.
I'd still like the see the numbers though.

I don't remember anyone on here, including

you lbb, complaining about the USPS when this pandemic started and folks were advised to shelter in place all over America yet USPS employees dutifully showed up to work to keep the mechanism rolling, delivering mail and the millions of packages that ALL Americans relied on due to business closures.
I don't remember any complaining about delays or other hiccups that would have been expected when nearly all commerce shifted to delivery over in person retail, while more vulnerable employees likely had to remove themselves from the process for fear of infection.
I don't remember the USPS postal workers union making threats or demands at the time for any special compensation for its members while they acted as essential workers either.
If you spent your time looking up info on the USPS budget instead of throwing out political barbs at them you would realize that operationally it pretty much breaks even and that budget overruns are due to a retirement benefits program and accounting practices - it doesn't equate dollar for dollar.
I'm embarrassed for those of you that stoop to the level of demonizing this group when they saved yours and many others #####, only to be thrown under a bus by their leadership and a healthy portion of the population desperate to cast blame away from a President.
