that a 2-loss team has never made the CFP ...
Then, the remaining 16 contenders are:
Clemson TCU Michigan Ohio State Georgia Tennessee
Tulane UNC Illinois Liberty Oregon USC UCLA Ole Miss Bama Coastal

Just for fun, I think LSU controls its own destiny in the SEC West. If they win out, including an SEC championship game win against UT/UGA - it could set up the first ever 2 loss CFP team

The question then becomes...

does the committee leave-out a two-loss $EC champion (e.g., LSU or Bama), in favor of a one-loss team that did not play for and/or win a conference championship (i.e., a one-loss Tennessee or Georgia team)?

been put in the four team Playoffs, a two loss team WON the BCS two team playoff, LSU under the Mad Hatter, Les Miles, upsetting No.1 Ohio State in the 2007 season. They finished 12-2.

Their two losses were both in overtime I believe.

Tulane wins it all. Would that be a interesting talking point.

The same premise would also include that a group of 5 team with a loss has never made it.
You can remove Coastal, Tulane and Liberty from your options.

Michigan/0310 and UGA/Tenn, will be decided on the field. That could lead to Clemson, TCU, undefeated BIG10 champ and undefeated SEC champ. I think the nightmare/chaos/fantasy, depending on who you root for, would be UGA beating UT this weekend and then going on to lose to Bama in the SEC championship. UGA, Bama and UT would all have one loss to each other. Would they look to put two SEC teams in and how would they determine who? Point differential vs. SEC champion runner up? If UT wins out they would likely be the sole SEC team unless a lot of teams lose to lesser opponents.

Of those teams, the following will play each other.....
Oct 31, 2022, 12:28 PM
|
|
Nov. 5- Tenn. @ UGA Nov. 12- Bama @ Ole Miss Nov. 19- Illinois @ Michigan; USC @ UCLA Nov. 26- Michigan @ Ohio St;
Dec. 3- Conference Championships (Clemson vs UNC; Illinois vs Ohio St/Michigan; UT/UGA vs SEC West rep; Oregon vs UCLA/USC winner)
There are some other games left that will be tough for teams on the list...Liberty goes to Arkansas this week, for instance.
I think some of the 1 loss teams fall off over the next couple of weeks. Usually that's what happens. And then some of the undefeated become 1 loss teams.
