you should know that we beat a really good Citadel team last night. They are considered by some to be the best mid-major team in the country this year. They returned 2 of 5 starters off of last year's team, which finished 9th in the SOCON and gave #1 seed Chattanooga all they could handle in the SOCON Tournament.
We didn't play perfectly, but a few things stand out:
1. We forced 13 turnovers. 2. Our bench outscored theirs 20-5. 3. We shot over 45% from the field. 4. We shot over 70% from the line. 5. We had 19 assists.
What is probably most encouraging, our starting backcourt of 4th and 6th year players Galloway and Hunter combined for 34 points (on 12-27 shooting), 11 assists, 5 rebounds, and only 1 turnover.
We obviously have some things to improve upon, but today's win was a very good one against a very solid Citadel team.

"They returned 2 of 5 starters off of last year's team, which finished 9th in the SOCON." You consider 2 starters from a team that finished 9th in a sub-par conference a really good team?
I thought our guys got off to a good start but this was far from a signature win. No need to try and make it more than it was.

I cant tell if this is a sarcastic post or not. They were 13-18 last year and picked 9th out of 10 in the preseason socon poll? They also outscored us in the second half 38-35. To early to tell anything.

the Citadel team.
They are not a good team. They happened to shoot well last night.
If PJ played last night we should have won easily by 30 as we mismatched them with size.
It is a good start to the season but pump the breaks after game one man.

I'm pretty sure this is a sarcastic post.
There is plenty to be pleased about with this game. Chase hunter and scheflin were fun to watch.
The one glaring issue was our 3 point defense. I feel like we got lit up in big games last year from 3 point range. Now first game citadel does it to us. The good news is, most teams will not shoot 44% from 3 on us. They made some open shots, but also made multiple difficult shots. We got as many food looks as them.
We can't tell much from this game. Looking forward to our game on Friday with USC.

a post presence, unlike last night. Defense is still my biggest concern with this team. No idea what to expect from USuC Friday, but they'll be better athletically than El Cid.
