Gonna have to get in the gym. 6'4" and weighs 163, that is a little light. Hopefully he can drop 3's with the best!

6'5" 180.
Not 165. Could still use a few pounds. But a pure shooter can make shots regardless of the weight

Have you even been to Colorado? South Carolina is cool and all, but those mountains are incredible out there and if anything is actually Gods country it would be Colorado
However since I’ve actually read a Bible most of it took place in barren desert

Agree. Welcome to Clemson. Very impressive initial recruiting list too. This must be who that poster was talking about the other day.
I would definitely think this deserves an extension and another letter from deaf Neff. Scuttlebutt is he saw the 40mil blueprint.

compared to other schools? You’re not just on scholarship, you’ve signed a bigger commitment.
Maybe it’s like ROTC and the big commitment doesn’t kick in until after your sophomore year and field training?
I’m just curious because it is a different situation from attending a regular school.

Military commitment starts at the beginning of Junior year at the Academies; of course that could have changed in the past few years to be more lenient.

20 years ago at least because you attended for free (and maybe got paid?), you had to pay back money if you transferred out of a service academy.

Again, both situations require leaving before start of junior year. Had a good conversation about it with the parents of one of our lax players who transferred to CU from the Naval Academy.

The highest compliment an opposing team can give a player is to yell "shooter" when a guy gets into the game. This kid looks like a shooter and 40% from 3 confirms it.

Tune into their forum each morning to see if any of their players were arrested for nonsense and Tiger fans (the real ones) tune in to see how their team is improving each day. This appears to be a move in the right direction for Clemson but I’m sure some will find fault with this move by our coaches.

No reason to find fault with this move. I’m sure he’s a great kid. But nothing Brad does from here matters. He’s had 13 seasons. If he completes his 14 season - even if he makes the tourney - his tenure will have been twice as long as any coach in ACC history (all 15 current teams) to have made the tourney as little as he has. He’s certainly not the worst coach ever. But no coach in the 64 team tourney era has done as little over such a long period of time. None. It’s an unparalleled investment in a mediocre coach and it hasn’t paid. Whatever experiment our athletic department is conducting needs to end. It’s embarrassing. That we’re paying a premium for a coach to be such an unprecedented failure should be humiliating.

Brad Brownell is not a failure. Just check the history of Clemson basketball. 20-win seasons, winning seasons. You need to go grind your axe somewhere else. He will be successful next year and he will get an extension. Book it Danno.

We needed another shooter. My guess is that brownell plugs RJ into the starting lineup so we’re gonna need as much shooting as possible to balance that out. Jake looks like he’ll take over galloways role from last year

Can you grasp that some of us have had it? The time and investment, contrary to the narrative of those who clearly benefit from his employment, made in Brad isn’t just unprecedented - it’s double any previous coach of similar accomplishment. Financially we’re talking about closer to triple the investment ever made in such a tenure. With absolutely no actual sign of improvement - despite yet another narrative. I can back my assertions up with facts. A flatline career SRS. No ACC coach tenured more than 7 years has made the tourney less than 25% of the time. He’s a dud. And it’s time for the pro-Brownell talking points to be put to bed. No matter what he manages to eek out next year.

our Tigers to be better. So this kid won't replace Middlebrooks--no, we're probably never going to talk about his rebound numbers. But is he talented and can he help us win?
The tape don't lie. He looks like a coach's son gym rat who has the stroke from three and isn't afraid to shoot the elbow jumper nor go hard to the basket. God knows we need somebody who is smart enough to not take a three when the threes aren't falling.
The numbers don't lie. What he's done at Air Force, he can do here. "Well the Mountain West ain't" this or that. It's college basketball. He can get it done.
"But he won't replace Middlebrooks!" No but he can replace Galloway's and Hemenway's production if we lean on him that hard. Just learn to celebrate the little things.
I think a whole lot of you not-so-secretly want the basketball team to be bad just to get Brownell out of contract. Look, I don't think he's the answer, but what if they somehow won the regular season title next year? Or Clemson's first ever ACC tournament? I'd be down for either, or both, no matter who is on the sideline.

I like your response and agree with mostly all of it.
However, I have to say I was surprised to hear this addition considering all the players Clemson has reached out to. This transfer portal class isn't overwhelming but if there's anything Clemson has lacked the last several years it's been athleticism, rebounding, and maybe a little dawgish hustle. Those attributes are also the thing I've noticed about successful tournament teams this year.
Furthermore, I'm concerned how this may negate some of our younger guys development (through playing time). Beadle and D. Hunter seem capable and Hemenway has proven just as capable as this new addition. In reality he plays the same position as Chase. I would have liked to see Dillon and Chase in the starting lineup next year. There will be a logjam for minutes next year at the guard position.
I'm concerned as this may suggest a move of, not desperation but, a move of simply adding someone before it's too late. I don't expect a bigger signing before now and the start of next season. And that may be ok as I like our core nucleus as it is (except for a backup big man- which we desperately need and appears we may not get).
If we don't add much else, I'm still looking forward to next year and still believe we'll be strongly competitive in the ACC. We should have two All - ACC players again next year.
