Spurrier was a great coach, should have never left Florida! He made good QB’s look Great at every stop. His era was the pinnacle of coot football. He finally got tired of the coots, and just left town……

My favorite Spurrier story. (Remember, I despise him more than y'all do. The animosity he created while at Florida was amazing. I put him in the same category as Bob Knight. He's a great coach. In a lot of ways he's probably a nice guy. But, deep down, he's a jerk. And the jerk in him just has to come out.)
Well, here's the story.
His first year at Florida in the summer he walked into a team meeting. He noticed that the freshmen players all had their heads shaved. He asked, "What's this?" He was told by one of the players. "It's part of the hazing process. We do it every year." He said, "Well, we ain't doing it any more." One senior player raised his hand. Coach called on him and he said, "But coach. It's what we do here. It's tradition."
Spurrier replied, "Tradition? Well, there's another tradition around here. Every year y'all get on the bus and go to Jacksonville and get your ##### whipped by Georgia. We're gonna change that tradition, too."

Great story. Spurrier was a bit of a jerk but nobody can deny he was a great coach, anyone who can lead South Carolina to finishing number 4 in the nation is a freaking miracle worker.

Good coach (Spurrier) but a sore loser at the end of the day

When things weren't going in the right direction (his last season), he quit - what a great role model for 18-22 year olds.

Yeah that was a bad look. “When the going gets tough the tough throw up their hands and walk away”

My favorite was a former player telling a story of him coming off the field after making a turnover. He apologized to Steve who replied, “that’s ok son, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have put you out there.”

I never heard that story! That’s a great one for sure. My wife got her masters at FSU and I was in Tallahassee when Spurrier got hired at UF. We went to a bunch games and I definitely grew to dislike Spurrier during those years. Then I had to deal with him a second time while at USUC. I wish Dabo had gotten a few more shots at him. Spurrier got out while the gettin was good and he knew it.

"He was asked if he had a file for former Gamecock coach Will Muschamp, now on the Georgia staff, he laughed and said no." LMAO!!!!!!

That's because Moosechump was a terrible head coach and a ###### bag while at SC. He was a great DC at one point, but he's probably more of a cancer at this point in his career. That's probably a great thing for Georgia haters.

Also because he appears to have the personality of a telephone pole.

Sadly for UGA, that has never been a given, even as a member of the mighty SEC East.

True, but Spurrier got all those wins against UGA coaching mighty SEC East teams.

Ouch, there are degrees of history. That reference would be of the ancient variety.

Remember How Come Stoudt Was In That Game ---

The guy came out like a General commanding the offense and just getting us down the field on that first drive to score. That crowd in Athens was looking so confused.
Then.....somebody put deer antlers on Cole and he was just meat for the rest of the game. ????????
