Keep those tie-breakers handy...

I can just about guarantee someone will be needed them this weekend.
And I still have a sinking feeling Clemson will emerge as a No. 1 seed... but having to host elsewhere as the NCAA has to dig deep out west to keep thing geographically balanced.
On the bright side: IF the Tigers take the ND series and IF the homestanding Heels can take the series vs. the Wuffies, then we finish in fifth place on the tiebreaker, no matter who does what elsewhere. I'm counting on Louisville to take their series with Wake, but unless Wake sweeps, we'd also hold the tiebreaker on the Deacs.
In short, we take 2 in South Bend, we avoid the play-in. For all the tough breaks and tight losses we've seen, we still hold our fate in our own hands.

Watch Wake sweep Louisville wouldn't that be about typical.

Rev. Dodd how could Clemson be a one seed and host "somewhere else?" That makes no sense! I think we win the series at ND and otherwise everything else is out of our control.
Go Tigers!

Something like 17 of the top 20 teams are in the Southeast

So they'll probably either end up giving 1 seeds to lesser teams in more geographically diverse locations (most likely) or doing what RevDodd said.

ThE NCAA has been known to award regionals to schools and name other schools as No. 1 seeds.

NEVER HAPPEN WITH CLEMSON OR ANY OTHER MAJOR IMO. HAVE SEEN IT HAPPEN FOR THE COASTALS AND CHARLESTONS AND DALLAS BAPTISTS OF THE WORLD.

or % points differences vs. head to head tiebreakers.
If NCSU wins 0 or 1 against the Heels and we win 2 or 3 vs ND then we would finish ahead. If NCSU wins 2, we can't finish ahead of them because even with a sweep by us, 16-14 is % points behind 15-13,
Also GT is 12-14. If they sweep BC in ATL(certainly possible though BC has been playing very well), we can only finish ahead of them by sweeping ND.
Bottomline-- I doubt we sweep ND. We need to hope we can win the series, and get some help from BC and/or UNC.
If we lose the series or heaven forbid get swept, then watchout because we may fall all the way out of the ACC tourney depending on what happens elsewhere.

Combined Standings
May 16, 2016, 11:14 AM
|
|
Only VT is mathematically eliminated.
Stand Team W L GB 1 Miami 19 6 2 UofL 19 8 1 3 FSU 15 8 3 4 UVA 16 11 4 5 NCSU 13 12 6 6 Clemson 13 14 7 7 WFU 13 14 7 8 GT 12 14 7.5 9 ND 11 13 7.5 10 Duke 12 15 8 11 BC 11 14 8 12 NC 11 15 8.5 13 Pitt 10 16 9.5 14 VT 6 21 14
Schedule of teams that could change our seeding NCSU - vs UNC WFU - at UofL - like their chances of losing at least 2 there. That helps us GT - vs BC Duke - at Pitt
The only matchup that is in our favor is the WFU series. On the good side, with the way that the teams from about 6-13 are basically playing a round robin, it would be real tough to fall out of the top 10 and miss the tourney outright. For teams to jump us, teams in that 10-12 range would also lose giving us some cushion at the 10 seed.
UNC and ND play tonight. Kinda need UNC to win that one. Be nice if they could get on a run and take the series with the slumping NCSU and maybe we could slip into the 5th seed. Either way you go, its going to be some brutal pools.

I've been off my feed since finding a cockroach in my coffee this morning.
Oh well, it was better than finding half a cockroach, I reckon ...

I think just going to the ACCT is enough this year

I'm more worried about NCAA seeding than doing anything in the ACC. I don't think the NCAA would look favorable on a team that completely missed their conference tournament.

So Warren Nolan and Boyds World are not reputable? "reputable sites have tigers as 2-seeds" according to article.
