Dabo would have higher percentage if games stolen in Sugar Bowl in playoffs. 2 losses to Alabama and OSu when neither should have been in championship series. Then LSU SEC home cooking beat Lawrence in Natty. During SEC defense can hold all game during that decade. Even LSU fans I know eventually admitted to that after watching game over and over. Alabama Saban beat DW one Natty with missed calls on Bama comeback.

Most of Clemson's top 25 wins are toward or at the seasons' ends. That's when most of the preseason hype which pushes SEC teams into the top 25 and after they have been culled.
I believe if someone took all the stats considering late or post season games the results would show Dabo being ranked higher, most likely #2 or at least 3.
How many times have we seen 6+ SEC teams in the top 25 and that carrying them through the season only to see some of them end the season just above 500% in wins to loss ratio?

I wish we played in the SEC sometimes just for the better competition & I'm thrilled we've scheduled some of them for the near future, but this story seems to suggest it doesn't include non-P5 ranked teams like Notre Dame, too?

I hear you, albeit the article (& the article within the article within THAT article) doesn't say what the rankings are from, when they were for, how they were determined (the original only mentions USA Today?), & seems to not include non-P5 teams like Notre Dame explicitly?
I'd rather ALSO see a list made of the post-season rankings from the singular CFP system, but any article like this would have its flaws by nature I guess is all, rather than Alabama for example being ranked high here simply because of SEC bias I guess is all. It's like the article is ambiguous by nature, but can't fake Coach Swinney & Coach Saban being at the top by an incredibly long stretch of ranked opponents.

True Kirby high up there most of time early season when as you say 6 SEC teams in Top 25 and Saban all his Alabama LSU years. Most of Saban out of conference schedule not Top 25. One of Saban Natty years their biggest win was preseason #8 FSU first or second game of season where they knocked out their starting QB and pretty sure not top 25 end of season and missed bowls.

And how many of his Top 25 losses came to coaches in the Top 5? 4 - 2 to Saban, 1 each to Day and Smart. Whereas Day and Riley have stacked their resume wins with overranked conference opponents.

It's a fascinating comparison.
I love that Coach Swinney has only been (head) coach at one school, & while that's not unique to him on this list, it's wild to think Saban's percentage at Alabama is nearly 78% but is brought down by his time at LSU where he won a title & changed their trajectory.
I don't want Coach Swinney to leave Clemson, make no mistake, but lists like this will always make me wonder how quickly he'd make another team just as elite. Can't wait to see him make this number climb even higher this year.

True but his numbers would go up alot if coached SEC team cause they play at least 6 Top 25 teams a year in conference games. Most non SEC Coaches their top 25 games true top 25. To me beating 7-5 or 8-4 Top 25 SEC teams no real top 25. When the 5 or 4 games lost are the SEC games.

Coach Swinney would be nuts to leave Clemson. If Clemson didn't hire Furman AD in 80's Danny Ford would have retired as Clemson HC. If Saban hadn't tried the NFL I doubt he would have left LSU after what has built there. The Bear Coached few times but once he found Alabama he wasn't going to leave. Too many Coaches today just jump to more money.

Clemson & Alabama seemed oddly similar last year now that I think about it. I get they had one more ranked win but still.

True Alabama almost made #4 and needed officials to win 4 games. With all our Offensive issues if Cade played entire Rooster game or at least second half turn 1 point loss to win. Beating UNC in ACC title game Clemson would have probably taken TCUs 3rd spot in Championship playoff after upset loss to KSU in their title game.

I thought this was fascinating.
I clicked on the link in the story to click on the NEXT link to the original story hoping to find what rankings they were using & why it was limited to P5 opponents only (i.e., no G5 or independents like Notre Dame) but they only mentioned USA Today.
Still, what really sticks out here is Coach Swinney's tenure; nobody but Saban even comes close. The fact that he's coached in the 2nd-highest number of ranked games on the list & third-place isn't anywhere near them is a good example of why he's the 2nd-highest-paid coach in the sport.
Can't wait to see what he does next (he may well climb this year alone). Go Tigers!
