Sounds like we are on the same timeline. Once our son graduates High School we will be headed to Lake Keowee.

If you have a garage apt let me know. I grew up on lakes until I was 45. Best times ever.
Good luck on your move to Lake Keowee. A very beautiful lake.
I am a little envious but wish you the best.

Hope you’re working in Summerville. If you have to commute into Charleston it is a minimum 1hr each way. That’s if there are no wrecks. Which those days are far and few. Traffic backs up at College park rd by 7:30am and is usually 20mph from there on until it clears around 9:30am. I had to move to Hanahan to cut my commute down. 3 hours a day in traffic wasn’t doing for me.

Grew up in Summerville, class of 88. Moved away in 93 and back in 2015 (things changed). Still a nice area to live, just growing like crazy. Lots of traffic and transplants.

I'm originally from Greenville, SC. Been trying to make it closer to home for the past few years now. My military career has carried me all over the US. I'm not too concerned with traffic, I was stationed in DC a few yew short years ago.

What area of Summerville are you planning to reside? It all depends on where you will be working. Do yo like to hunt and/or fish? Do you want to live in the middle of everything or do you want some land? There are many support facilities for retired military, some based around the Air Force base others in Goose Creek on Red Bank road. Good Luck.

I'm having a home built over by the Cane Bay schools. I enjoy fishing and hunting. Hoping to make up it up by Moncks Corner to do some camping this summer.

Hunting is better over towards Cottageville or up into Williamsburg County. Fishing depends on the type. If you can afford it get a getaway home up towards Salem. What service were you or are you in?

I was in the military too for 20 years. I was stationed in DC for 4 years where rush hour was from 2 to 8 PM. I grew up in N. Chas. You will love it.

ago, here is the only things you need to know.
Long time Summerville residents actually look down their nose at Charleston residents.
Charleston residents whose families have only lived in the area for a hundred years are still referred to as "newcomers", or "transplants" by "Native" Charlestonians. The Native Charlestonians look down their nose at EVERYONE, and chuckle at "those people in Summerville", especially.
Now you have the keys to surviving and thriving in Summerville. Enjoy.

Yes sir. Live in Moncks Corner. Summerville is definitely nice. Only place I would say dodge down here is North Charleston. I definitely wish I wasn’t in the military and had to go there every day.
