Side Effects of Eating Fish

I read an article the other day about some of the side effects of eating fish. Unlike the side effects we see on the drug ads on TV and in several magazines, the side effects of eating fish are welcomed. The article listed five benefits.
!. Lower risk of heart attacks and strokes.
2. A boost in brain power.
3. Fewer episodes of depression.
4. Improved sleeping habits.
5. Reduced joint inflammation.
Some of the best results were from the group that ate fish about three times a week. Even sardines (those little stinkers) are a good source of whatever it is that leads to the above welcomed side effects. I suppose I should eat more fish and hope to gain a boost in brain power but I don't know if I want to go on a three meals per day fish diet.

Haha I thought you were going to say that you didn’t know if you wanted to boost your brain power because you might become too much smarter than everyone else! You’re definitely one of the wisest on Tnet!

Joe, what year did you graduate from Clemson? The reason I ask is because my Granddad and his roommate (best friend from childhood) both graduated together, enlisted In the army in WW2 together, both survived over 4 years in the war, and were each other’s best men In their weddings.
Rodman Lemon is my grandfather, died in August 2002
Edward Richardson was his best friend. They were class of 1937.
Just wondering if you ever met either one of them at a Clemson veteran’s event or something like that.
I enjoy your posts!

I got my first degree at the Univ. of Florida in 1949. Came to Clemson in 1955 and while working full time and doing a lot of traveling I got my second degree here at Clemson in 1963. I didn't know many of the other class mates at Clemson because I was older and not living on campus.

I eat my fair share of fish but most of those are fried. I’m guessing that part outweighs the benefits?
However, I haven’t realized the short term benefits yet either, but I’ll keep trying.

I hear Carp is not on the list of fish that is good for you. So disappointing.

Ok, thanks for the reply! I went to Clemson from 2003-2005, got a very good internship that I had to leave for, then went into the workforce and finished by business degree at Lander in 2008. I’m going to go back and get another degree from Clemson one day, maybe when I retire just so I can get my ring haha!

lower risk of Alzheimer's as well. But don't eat farm-raised like tilapia or catfish more than a few times a month. The feed they use is loaded with pesticides and wild-caught have lower levels of mercury.. Take it from a former amateur Tilapia farmer.

Spot on Tigerbalm, to watch the species that have high levels of heavy metals. Also, check where it comes from, much of our frozen fish comes from china.
