Please Stop Making Light of FSU
Nov 21, 2020, 12:37 PM

FSU’s medical staff had a duty to protect their student athletes. THEY would be the ones that would have to look the parents in the face if this went sideways. They understood that lots of money had been spent and Clemson was assuring them that all the protocols had followed, but they had a solemn duty to do what they thought right. They made a tough call. This is a game. It can be played later. The worst case for playing can’t be undone.
So please, let’s stop taking shots at FSU.

EXACTLY! If Clemson says they are following the protocol, who is the FSU medical person to say otherwise? Is the protocol not clear? Couldn't the ACC officials verify the protocol? Did FSU think Clemson was not telling the truth? Sadly, i comes across as not wanting to play the game. Did FSU have too many players opting out this week? Wondering who is going to get to the bottom of this?

The OP is right. How can the FSU medical staff look their players families in the eyes and have to let them know their sons ####### are too hurt to play Clemson! It’s for the best they postpone!

Just so I understand, it’s okay for their coach to test positive and still play a game but they are protecting their players when a player on the other team tests positive and they choose not to play? So, they would not have had to face the parents in the first scenario?
Okay, makes perfect sense. ??

It’s convenient, stinks, and darn sure isn’t popular but this was a decision that can be defended and won’t be called into question. Their medical staff made a decision at the time the last information was presented, 9AM. Again, it isn’t popular and it’s very easy to poke holes in, but their medical staff made the decision and good luck finding someone in a position of power that’s willing to call that into question.

If you’re an old man and a sports fan how can you not understand the implication of a forfeit? A forfeit puts a W In the win column. When the other team forfeits you automatically get the win. That matters in conference standings.

Shut up you ignorant corona bro!
I’m so tired of this BS about corona and Covid this is so freaking overhyped!
Most people testing positive don’t even have symptoms which means they don’t have Covid because a positive test does not mean you’re actually sick it just means you have antigens in your blood which means you were exposed to someone that has Covid.
One if the main reason ms we’re having so many positive tests now is because we’re doing1.5 million tests/day which is exponentially more than we were doing in the past.
There has not been a single verified case where someone has gotten Covid by playing a game against someone else and at this point most players have already been exposed to the virus probably several times.
the death rate is steadily going down and the number of hospitalizations relative to positive Tests is also going down and we are far better at treating this now than we were six months ago.
Very very very few kids college-age and below have been hospitalized with Covid much less died from it. I mean like a super tiny number.
We also know the people dying from Covid are being greatly over exaggerated. There is a video of the head of the state of Illinois health system, their version of what we call DHEC in South Carolina, and she confirmed what many of us have known for a long time which is someone dying with Covid even when Covid has nothing to do with them dying is still labeled a Covid death. Her quote was, even if you are in hospice and dying of cancer and you only have weeks to live and you get Covid and then you die from the cancer they count that as a Covid death! When Covid has absolutely nothing to do with that person dying!
I’m not saying that people should not take this serious I’m not saying that people that have certain serious health conditions don’t need to be careful, but the truth is the majority of the hype around Covid is because this is an election year and because of Donald Trump and anyone that doesn’t believe that he’s lying to themselves! This is about power and control by people that love power and control! And if you don’t understand that you’re part of the problem!

Point out one thing I wrote that’s factually incorrect. You can’t. Because everything I posted is 100% factually correct. People like you cancel people like me because I speak truth to power and all you have is your little girl feelings and your liberal political beliefs. I thought people like you believe in facts and science? The CDC and Dr. Fauci and basically every expert is saying schools should be open and kids should be going to school. Yet Democrats all over America are shutting down schools. This is not about truth and never has been. It’s about power. And if you don’t understand that it’s because you’re part of the problem. Prove me wrong!

It reminds me of the CNN reporters that constantly get caught Socially distancing and wearing a mask when they think they’re on camera and then taking off their mask and standing within inches of each other talking in groups when they think the cameras are off. You just can’t make this stuff up yet sadly people at Clemson degrees by the lies from the left and the media. I’m embarrassed of people graduated from Clemson aren’t smart enough to see the truth when it’s being shoved up their rear ends with a red hot poker. But then those people know the truth they’re just socialist and communist and totalitarian’s that think America is a bad racist country rather than the greatest country that has ever existed and that capitalism and democracy have done more for people around the world than all other systems combined. These people have white guilt and are led by there a little girl emotions rather than the facts and understanding of history.

Is my meter broken?
You could pretty much count on your fingers the number of athletes under the age of 25 that I’ve been hospitalized with Covid. Actually has there been any college player that has been hospitalized? I know there has not been a death. And if any of them were hospitalized what other medical conditions did they have that they didn’t know about or that we haven’t been told about. Think about how many college kids every year get an injury and then because of that injury and all the medical attention they get find out they have some type of serious disease or some type of serious heart condition or spinal condition. Who is the kid to drop dead on the basketball court? There have been more kids drop dead on the basketball court in college basketball than will die from coronavirus.

I knew my post would be torched and that is fine. I will probably get ripped for this, too. Let’s be entirely clear, though. I did not say I agreed with the choice the medical staff made. I certainly will concede that I am taking the cancellation at face value and assuming it was truly made by the medical staff. I find intervention by the staff or administration implausible since they are going to be embarrassed now or later. That said, it is perfectly fair to rip me for my naïveté if it turns out that was not the case. I do, however, defend the medical professional(s) who made that call. They stood by their beliefs and made a clearly unpopular (and politically charged) call. That takes courage.
An earlier poster stated quite correctly that the ACC should be held accountable for the way this played out. They mandated the test the day before the match, but they did not require the results to be in prior to agreement on play and team travel. That undoubtedly needs to be fixed.

The conference should’ve immediately stepped in and said FSU play the game or you forfeit. Clemson followed all of the protocols that were established by the ACC before the season started and every team has to follow. Unless Clemson broke protocol, which they did not, then FSU should’ve been forced to play the game. If they decided not to play the game it is not rescheduled but they take a big fat W and we Move on! Why is it hard for you to understand that? And again Covid is not dangerous to healthy people especially not young healthy athletes. This is all BS! And I am factually 100% correct and I dare you to prove me wrong. I don’t wanna hear your feelings I stick to these little things called facts!

I don't you know what a fact is. And apparently the protocol allows for FSU to have the final say regardless. Stinks, but it's within they're rights. Or do not believe in others rights? Unless those rights are something you agree with? Just a game, man.

I don’t understand. I did not disagree in any way with anything you said. The ACC could have averted this as you said. They didn’t and here we are.
What I am trying to say is the medical staff at FSU are presumably highly trained, highly paid professionals who were presented with a dilemma and they made a choice - a tough, unpopular choice. You (and I, for the record) don’t agree with that choice. That does not mean we cannot appreciate THAT they made their choice. I pay people that know more than I do to make decisions like this one. If I don’t respect their difference of opinion, why hire them in the first place.
The choice here is likely political as much as medical and those who made the decision should be held accountable for their decision. However, I believe this choice was a serious one. Mocking, sarcasm, calling names weakens the case for real accountability. There are very real questions these medical professionals should have to answer.

The ACC said Clemson had followed ALL of the agreed upon protocols. If FSU had problems with the protocols at the beginning of the season they should have voiced their concern then. Either got them changed or not agreed to move forward with the season. This is a classic bait and switch.

I blame the acc. I could understand if the conference would have said, "ok someone tested positive, you can't play". But they essentially stated that we followed protocols and okayed the teams to play. Why have protocols if you're going to allow them to be deemed meaningless? Colleges are already cancelling athletic programs because of the financial impact. Now you're telling visiting teams who've already incurred travel expenses they have to go home. Not a good look for the acc.

When the opponent had one positive test. OP you are so sensitive and I bet your basement looks amazing. I wish everyone had the sense you do. The world would be a lot safer with a bunch of people who call off life for the smallest reason. I bet it’s hard to type on your phone with the gloves you always wear on...wouldn’t want to take any chances at contaminating yourself! I know, I know there is very little chance for that, but can’t be too careful.
Seriously... I hope the equivalent of the chicken curse has just been dropped on FSU.

Clemson followed ACC guidelines which all conference members should use that as the benchmark for playing games. If not, why even have the ACC issue guidelines. Those were the rules setup by the ACC and its conference members.

FSU made the decision for feelings not health. They could’ve done it prior. They could done rapid testing and delayed.

Shut up Karen. We followed the approved protocol. FSU decided not to play. They had that right. Doesn’t make it right.

The ACC announced the news on Saturday morning, a mere three hours before the game was scheduled to kick off at noon ET. The ACC said the status of the game changed early Saturday after a conference call “at which time both teams’ medical personnel were unable to mutually agree on moving forward with the game.” ACC protocols require teams to be tested for the coronavirus the day before the game, so both Florida State and Clemson were tested Friday. Once the test results are received, both schools get on a call with the ACC to finalize whether or not they intend to proceed with the game. Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel is reporting that a Friday test came back positive for one Clemson player who traveled to Tallahassee with the team. Florida State officials were not comfortable playing after learning about Clemson’s positive test.

Why did the ACC approve that the game could be played?
Nov 21, 2020, 4:03 PM

They would not have approved if they thought it was unsafe. Plus, Clemson offered to stay an extra day or two for more testing to see if it was a false positive. Still a no-go for FSU.

yeah - with the protocols all being followed (listening to the "experts" , except when it's not convenient (right, teacher's unions?), the remote chance that a healthy 18-22 yr old would contract this deadly, ebola-like plague was just too big of a risk.

Here’s what I don’t understand:
Every team (85 players) that has played a game in the ACC this year has tested every player on every Friday. Are you telling me this is the first time any of those players tested positive on a Friday?
BS!
This is unprecedented and there is only one explanation. We all know it.

positive. Today's little cancellation was about not getting their tail kicked. At the rate Norvell's players are quitting on him, this game won't be made up in 4 weeks .
FSU's problems run far deeper than a virus. They've once again hired a coach in over his head at a P5 school

I would not put FSU and integrity in the same paragraph without the words "lack of" immediately proceeding integrity. The Jack wagons were just scared to play and looking for an excuse.

I would say that torn ACLs and broken necks are more serious than the slight possibility of catching COVID. How in the world can the medical staff face a parent when someone gets injured?

BS. Clemson has a "medical staff" too. This had NOTHING to do with medicine.
