Cautiously optimistic. My biggest fear is we are so

loaded with talent right now on defense that it's covering up any development issues.. Trotter himself is a one-man wrecking crew.

Not sure why you would say that. We played a ton of freshman on defense yesterday and they are all emerging. IIRC, the announcers said we had played 5 before the end of the first quarter.

Personally, I was ecstatic to see Capehart have such a good game. I have been waiting for him to step up and think our DL next year will be at least as good as this year. Could use some more pass rush, but still going to be a handful.

I haven't been keeping up with the DL and who we're rotating other than pwoo. We will have page. Burley should be ready. Was hoping that caden story would be ready to step up. Really liked him when he was recruited. Still think if we could pick up some experience on the edge from the portal... and add some depth.

Still going to possibly lose a ton of experience in LB too. It'll be Wes's biggest challenge for sure. And it's a good bet we'll see some drop-off. As long as it's not an offense type drop-off, we'll be ok.

For sure LB will be a huge question mark next year, but feel pretty good about DT/corner/safety. Could use help at DE, but not dire need.

Portal players are usually leaving a situation where they weren't happy with playing time. So ultimately portal players are moving to add some depth. They'd rather go to Duke and play then sit on the bench at Clemson or another school.

Almost hidden in the article is that Hamp Greene is ranked 32nd in the nation on punt returns.he played great yesterday and he made a lot of the other team miss with his juke and jive.

Had he been hurt and that's why we haven't had him back there? I can't remember.

Punt return started out for us with Antonio Williams.

Went to Tyler Brown after A.Williams got hurt.

Between T.Brown getting a small case of the yips, struggling to catch the punt in the sun, and being poked in the eye, Hamp Greene has ascended to the PR guy.

Looks like it’ll be Hamp’s job for the remainder of the season.

I said it before the season

That this would be the year where we would figure out if Wes really had what it takes to be "the guy". Well he definitely has what it takes. What he did Saturday with that MASH unit vs ND was extremely impressive.
