So is global warming still a thing??

With all of the news being of the covid variety, the end of times via burning coal has given way to end of times via bat soup. Maybe burn the bats for a brighter tomorrow..? Wait. Then we would have a huge explosion of mosquitoes. But we have a bunch of malaria medicine, so I guess that would be ok.

Tks Carlsbad for facts. Same with about 100% of Drs in January about the virus that many of the same people dismissed. It must be hard to have a brain that is comfortable to blame everything in the world on the left wing media, the liberals, the Chinese, the socialist, Yankees, Gamecocks, etc etc. Must leave a lot of good gray matter to stay idle. Thomas Paine said "that arguing with a man who has forsaken reason is like giving a dead man medicine".

Look at the type of scientists they are and you'll find sociologists, economists, chemists, statisticians and so on. Very few who have been trained in earth science or meteorology.

Well, the scientist I am married to
Apr 7, 2020, 1:14 PM
|
|
who doc'd in labs at Stanford and Harvard and published medical papers in Nature (which someone such as yourself probably doesn't even know what that is, sadly), has spent long hours working hard day and night, seven days a week for years and decades (work weeks that you can't imagine) promoting her agenda. Her agenda is medical science and saving lives and improving the quality of medical care for people such as yourself. I know many other high ranking scientists, because of her. And yep, they are promoting their agenda; improving the world through technology, curing cancer, preventing environmental disaster and ecosystem collapse, making race cars safer, planes safer, and countless other agendas. These people do this to make life better for you. As indicated by many posts on this board, it is thankless work, similar to people that trash the military (the very people that protect their freedom). I know you don't like democrats, and I am not overly fond of them either, but tying them to everything you don't like is ignorant and disgraceful to the people who dedicate all of their lives and waking hours to making your life what it is today.

Sad thing is people like this guy are allowed to reproduce . Science deniers who probably believe in ghosts and leprechauns. All the glaciers and ice caps are melting, heat records being broken globally every year, wild fires raging out-of-control all over the world. Yet some people, because they refused to change their habits, sit on their hands and say “it’s all a hoax”.
Sadly, it’s not going to get home with some people until it starts affecting them directly, Even then they will probably deny the facts until they are engulfed in flames or run out of water

So lightning fires are global warming? How about Australia that was on fire? Oh that's right it was started by a person in a DESERT!! plenty of fuel for the fire. Not saying the ice caps aren't melting or even that the carbon dioxide levels are rising but you can't use every wildfire as a reason to believe it's caused by global warming. Especially mother nature and when people are involved.

The fires are pretty commonly blamed on drought

Drought dries out the vegetation and makes it more flammable. Then increased droughts are blamed on climate change. It's third-grade reasoning that a lot of people don't understand.

A religion of the left sort of thing.
The media and environmentalists never talk about the #1 polluter in the world though.....China. Instead, they lecture us on what not to call the virus and defend the regime over there.

That China is a more egregious polluter doesn't mean we shouldn't try to fix our own problems. We have to take care of our own patch of dirt.

but, I’m not, so his pollution is offset by me not smoking.
We can “not smoke” all day, and the smoky room will not improve as long as the big guy in the corner keeps firing up stogies.
The earth is our room and China is the big guy with the cigar.

It seems to me that all of our existential problems are global in nature while we are still trying to deal with them on a national level. The Corona Virus is a good example. Climate change is another.
We are all in the same boat - mother Earth. We all need to work together to deal with global problems.

I had a professor at Clemson,Mike Jutra, who lectured us on global warming. This was early 80’s.He said beware of this and all the ramifications of government overreach that could be coming. We all laughed it off.Of course as the global warming didn’t fit the narrative, had to start calling it climate change.

Oh and here's a more direct answer to your question
Apr 5, 2020, 11:28 AM
|
|
Yes, it's still a thing.
2019 was the 2nd-hottest year on record.
The world’s five warmest years have all occurred since 2015 with nine of the 10 warmest years occurring since 2005.
It was also the 43rd consecutive year with global land and ocean temperatures, at least nominally, above average.
Ocean heat content, which describes the amount of heat stored in the upper-levels of the ocean, was the highest ever recorded.
NASA also found that 2010-2019 was the hottest decade ever recorded.
Both the Arctic and Antarctic oceans recorded their second-smallest average annual sea-ice coverage during the 1979–2019 period of record.

You do know they threw out all the old records and place their equipment at the hottest places on earth ? But you don’t know that cause cnn and the other freaks will not tell you that. What happened to the ice age ? In the 60s and 70s we all were going to freeze to death. You know what the climate will change always has and always will until the good lord ends it

Apr 5, 2020, 8:55 PM

is the insertion of "man made" into it. The same people who insert that into the argument and lecture us on driving Tahoes are the same people who hop into a private jet to fly 50 miles.
Is the Earth changing? Probably. Always has. Is my John Deere causing it? He!! no.
Nothing more than a tool to use and say "Republicans want to fry your children in the sun....." and a tool to strangle businesses. The vast majority of environmental regs on companies don't even address the environment at all. All about those tax Benjamins.

Fortunately, the lunatics who are freaking out about the wuhan flu are sheltering in place using all the great things coal/nuclear/gas provides for their little shiny hinnies.
Is there any way to have all the liberals shelter in place in one big room . Have Pelosi walk in with a big ole case of the Wuhan and let them have a conference about transgender rights and why killing unborn babies sends a thrill down their trembling legs?

It's really sad that things like Covid-19 and Global Warming become politicized.
These are the sort of things that both parties should come together before they're such big issues.

The left is really the only side talking about climate change. Fox News won’t go near the subject unless they are rolling their eyes when they speak about it.
Both sides bother the hell out of me, but I look at this issue mostly through an economic lens. I am in strong favor of government investments going to support R&D of renewable energy technology. I see this as a good use of my tax dollars. Domestic energy independence and local health benefits from cleaner energy sources have a huge impact on our nations’ coffers.
The problem is not that feasible solutions would be too far off in the future to be viable, it is that we have a government (and again this goes for both parties) that are bought and paid for by the fossil fuel industry and are a major headwind for technological advancement on this front.

and will always be changing depending on the output of the Sun. To say that changes lately are all the fault of industrialization and the solution is to heavily tax the USA while letting leading polluters like China be on the receiving end of our $ pretty much reveals what the agenda is really all about.

millions of years ago.
You idgits that care about climate change, it's happening, now deal with the "whys", you morans.
I've 2 YUKONS, can't eat enough petrol to peeve you Truvada sissies off.
Deer lowered, you idgits are the same that think a sea turtle's eating a balloon. IT IS NOT HAPPENING!
They've too developed a sense of pallet to know better & if one does, then natural selection is a thing.
The species will be stronger for the juan Franklin that got all hung up on Clemson's orange delicious biodegradable balloon releases.
Yeah, pubic-skewled is a thang, and you're it.
Oh, and happiest of birthdays to dsq.
