Look at how many other players were left in position to stop him well short of the goal line even if Clelin missed the tackle; nearly half the team was there waiting for him!

Amazing play by Clelin.
The best part of the play though is that even if Clelin had missed the tackle, there were like 5 more Tigers there waiting to crush Tua.

All good points, but I think 8 players could have stopped him short. To score he would have had to break 8 tackles as the 'bamer players gave up on the play early, they did not play to the whistle. They knew they were whipped. Glorious.

It was just a total beatdown. The Genius Kid CBV put on a world class show!!!! No one can spin it any other way.
Cle Missle will probably be the most dominant force in the NFL. Don’t care what team I have, if I’m picking first in the draft, I’m picking him.

Question for people who know more than I do: How on Earth did Tanner Muse know to run through 3 blockers, and to not stay back and defend a possible pass?

Tanner stayed in position to defend the pass until Tua Unspellable had been put in a position where he couldn't throw, only at that point did Tanner go to assist (if required) with the tackle.

Nick, I thought that too, but Tua hadn't yet reached the line of scrimmage, and Tanner just let three people go behind him - were they illegal receivers, and did he *know* that? If he knew, that's just remarkable; if he didn't, that was seriously high risk.

Say what you will...
The fake punt had a better result. At least they got back near the LOS.

Following the failed faked field goal attempt, there was much discussion among the talking heads that Saban should have instead left his offense on the field with the ball in Tua's hands. This would have been the same result had Tua attempted to run or pass. Absolutely dominant defense! Best ever in college football.

Earlier in the game when Muse came across the field and popped Tua and denied him the first down is right there with Ferrell's stop. Actually it's my favorite play of the game.

It's like Clemson had 11 players on the field
Mar 2, 2019, 12:42 PM
|

and bama only had 7.
Not a single bama lineman crossed the line of scrimmage until Clemson already had their hands on the QB...How do you call a play were every lineman pulls to the left when you are on the 2 freaking yardline?
I've seen lineman with more forward push while pass blocking.

Tanner Muse had the best 4th down stop of the game I believe.Bama could have gotten some much needed momentum had Muse not have laid the smackdown on Tua.
