Saw story yesterday where Brownell said that the Tigers could sign another couple of pieces to this class. “We have a couple of spots still. We’re actively looking at some transfers, still keeping in touch with a few high school kids,” Brownell said. “Just kind of playing it by ear here for the next couple of weeks.”

It seems Brownell's recruiting strategy is all about transfers. I don't know if that's a good idea for the long term.

Brownell's long-term strategy has not been that great.

He is finally having some success with transfers. This is not much different than one-and-dones.

If you're not playing the transfer market

Then you're not doing your job as a head coach. It's the law of the land these days. Look at the pluses...you may get a player who initially rejected you (Mitchell). You may get a player who was undervalued out of high school due to there being so much talent in his area, you get 'lost in the Reeds'. Sometimes, you don't fit with the direction of a program (Thomas).
What you do get is a year, or more of physical and mental maturity by players who have seen far more schemes than they ever experienced in high school or travel ball. Further, they know more about playing within a 'team', as opposed to the '1 v 1' circuit. Lots of pluses with, in my opinion, less risk because the player's making a more informed decision, and tape exists about that player from a level of competition that matters...college ball.

You must've missed our 4-star recruits we have this year

All three of whom are currently seniors in high school. They will enter Clemson this summer as true freshmen.
Yes, we have had a lot of success with transfers lately, but that is a great strategy to complement high school recruits.

Love all 3 of them and I believe they will be great Tigers but not sure where you see that they are 4 stars at. I believe Jemison and Newman should be though.

I think we are awaiting decisions by Mitchell and Reed before finishing recruiting. Brownell doesn’t think either will leave, but he clearly has to consider the possibility.
We need another point guard and steady wing who can score. The next week or so should reveal who we sign.
Go Tigers!
