that has been coming to the games since they would hitch up the horse and buggy and come to Riggs field. Now she can barely afford her lower deck tickets.
I blame Dabo and DRad for this atrocity. We want to see our Tigers play. Not have to sell our Tigers to pay.

It's economics. Supply and demand. I'd rather have a Championship winning team than cheap tickets. You can't have both at the same time.

I don’t have any family connections to just seat in the lower deck. I’m a proud alum and am glad I have to the option to buy into lower deck seats. I’m happy to spend the money.

the University didn't charge season ticket holders a seat equity fee.
The actual cost is no longer the amount printed on the face of the ticket.
The seat equity fee for lower deck seats on the 50 is $800 per year which translates to $114.00 per game. The face value of a single ticket (to the Wofford game for example) is $40.00.
Actual out-of-pocket cost for the ticket holder is $154.00.

You aren’t “charged” a seat equity fee. Your IPTAY donation just has to reach a certain (fairly low) level to qualify for different areas of the stadium. I give more than 3 times what is required for my seats.
Someone with 2 on the 50 only have to donate $1600. Anyone new to IPTAY that wants to be somewhere in the lower deck is pushing twice that for an end zone seat.
Most of the ones I know that complain about seat equity were still getting tickets off their dead granddad’s account and still paying $200 to IPTAY for his 8 on the 50.
Some people feel their seats are theirs forever no matter what. I’m personally ready for a “reseating” in DV.

My grandfather was a charter member of IPTAY so someone in my family (my grandfather, my father or me) has been a loyal member since 1935.
I've had my own membership since graduating in 1985 and currently pay at the McFadden level. You are welcome to stop by and see me during any home game in Lot 6 or sitting up in Section UE.

I've had the same seats on the 45 yard line since 1957, supporting the Tigers through good times and bad. I pay the seat equity (and more) for that location. If there were a complete seat reassignment, why should I be forced to give up my seats for some one who has been a ticket holder since the 1980's or '90's, or even later. Every one in that area pays the minimum seat equity.
I doubt anyone is getting tickets off of their dead granddad's account and if they are, they are having to donate to IPTAY the current seat equity. This can be verified by checking with IPTAY and the ticket office.

The seat equity weeded out most of the freeloaders but I personally know 2 families that are using the account of a deceased relative to get their tickets...they do it for the IPTAY points. Each family has 12 tickets...really good tickets. Not one of them gave a dime to IPTAY before their grandparents died. Of course they have to pay the seat equity now and moan about it every year. If I was a #### I’d report them to IPTAY...Might do it anyway.
We probably don’t need a complete reassignment. I’m ready for an upgrade to the current bleacher seating which would cause a loss of seating capacity and force some reassignment for a bunch of people. I’m really tired of being shoehorned into the bleachers and can’t afford any premium seats. I don’t want longtime doners to lose their seats but we need the upgrades. Thankfully for you the AD doesn’t see things my way. All they care about is the premium stuff and their corporate doners.

Well $50 in 1990 is the equivalent of $98 in 2019 using average inflation of 2.36% over 29 years. So even ignoring the increased costs for seat equity or increased demand due to exposure from the success of our program, you should expect to pay more.

Friend, you're looking at it from the wrong angle.
Oct 29, 2019, 10:26 AM
|

I remember in the 80's, we would go to our family compound on Dewee's Island, and we would just past through the slummiest houses on the Isle of Palms to get to the Marina. It was like Beirut, and we would lock our door and keep our heads down the entire length of Ocean Blvd, as you passed by ramshackle single story homes filled with families who probably hadn't paid more than $1200/week to rent the places.
Post Hugo though, it became glorious. Three story homes are the norm, rents are $5000/week and up, and the people are more beautiful and educated. Sometimes I'll even roll the window down on my Range Rover Autobiography Supercharged, without fear of violence.
You see friend, Dabo Swinney is our Hurricane Hugo. Before him, you probably could get those tickets and the semi-premium parking for the rock-bottom prices you're seeking. You also had to rub elbows with the hoi polloi as you made your way from your premium parking space to the Tiger Suites elevators, and then your eyes were assaulted with sights like ragamuffins riding pieces of scrap cardboard down the hill as the game went on. It was embarrassing.
Now, prices are up, the clientele is more deserving of a premium experience, and the game day atmosphere is just more luxurious overall. I would recommend taking your $350 ticket budget and going to Target (I think that's where you people shop) and acquiring a nice 50" television to watch it on at home. You'll be happier, I'll be happier, and the post-Hugo era Clemson experience will be preserved for all. God Bless.

Little street urchins would approach you and try to assail your face with pencil erasers coated in an orange substance, and then had the nerve to ask for money post-assault.
Others would throw oval shaped objects back and forth precariously, with the errant passes occasionally hitting our fully customized Suburban (this was 1986 and the Range Rover hadn't been imported yet).

Econ 101. I personally have 14 season tickets, all in section E with 4 of them right on the 50 on row R the second row from the portal. When you ask me to sell them for $65 each (which is about what I have sold some of my tickets for the Wofford game), you need to know my total cost. In order to buy 14 season tickets between the 40s, it cost just under $125/ticket this year. This comes from my Iptay dues and is the equivalent of a seat license fee. You then need to add to that the face value of the ticket to arrive at the total per ticket cost which adds another $35 to $100+, depending on the opponent. Why should we sell our tickets for any less that what the market will bear? It's my hard earned money that bought the tickets not yours. This sounds like the entitled generation who thinks everything should be given to them. That being said, I have given tickets away many times and have greatly reduced my asking price to help people. Just remember, someone had to pay a heck of a lot more for those tickets than you are probably paying.
As far as the Athletic Dep't. is concerned, they have to break even or eliminate non revenue producing sports. Our Athletic Dep't. is not greedy as stated below in another post. DRad is a businessman and is charged with the responsibility of at least having the athletic dep't. break even. Football is by far , the largest revenue generator and they have to take advantage of the current high level of interest.
Blame the football team's success for the high demand for season tickets but you also need to recognize the amount of money pouring into the university both academically and athletically, as a result of the football team's success. When the West End Zone was first announced and fund raising started, they called everyone to raise even a few dollars. Thousands of people donated. I donated to it in 2004. As I recall, it was $35 mil project and the first major renovation at DV since 1983. I didn't receive any calls or emails, however from Iptay when they built the indoor center and the Reeves center which totaled over $80 mil. There is so much big money pouring in now that they don't need to bother with us peons.

To always be able to get a ticket for face value.
An older fan on a fixed income who thinks tickets should be less expensive because that’s the way things used to be.

For a few dollars more you can have some cheese with that whine. So basically, all you are wanting is premium seating & premium parking for $65 a ticket ?? Oh well then, why didn't you just say so. Surely you get that all this success and facility upgrades that you want to go and enjoy on the cheap, did not come on the cheap ?? Wow....just wow.

I used to keep my parents season tix for 20 years after they stopped going regularly. Then, when the seat equity went through around 2007ish, I adopted the philosophy of "if I find seats for the price I am willing to pay for them great... if not... great." I am perfectly willing to take my $150 (or whatever) to the esso club or stay at friends/family tailgate. It's all good and I usually get tix for less than face right before games. You have to be willing to walk away in any negotiation. That being said, I have been to hundreds of games over the years and love it. Two of my three degrees are from Clemson. We came to the tropical storm notre dame game by bost, so if someone calls me a fairweather fan... I just giggle at their ignorance.... Go Tigers!!

Cant tell if serious about needing tickets, but there is a wake forest family four pack i got an email about. It was four tickets, 20% off a fanatics purchase and a parking pass for 40 EA. Not too shabby.
Also check groupon for tickets. Sometimes i see really affordable tickets on there

Let's call this thread Ole Number 7 and then post "NUMBER 7" several times a year and save everyone a lot of keystrokes.

Those tickets aren't on the 50 yard line, lower deck sir! How dare you insinuate that the OP shant sit in premium seats for at or near face value. Your offer INSULTS him!

Well when you add in the $25000 in IPTAY fees plus the tickets I had to give away at the bad weather games along with the seat backs, I have to charge $1250 per seat per game. You could hang out near the gate and hope for rain. Or stop by my tailgate and watch it on tv from outside the stadium (for a nominal admittance fee of course). Enjoy the game!!!
