Any thoughts on a .22

Any strong feelings on a .22. I’m thinking about getting a ruger 10/22. Looks like it is highly thought of and can get with a walnut stock. There is a Nikon rimfire scope on sale at academy too. I am about to close on some land and figure I’ll need a varmint gun and an occasional target shooter/plinker. But with the walnut stock figured it would be a nice hand me down later

You're right on the money. That's what I have. A very good and dependable rifle.

lovinit, I know you said you wanted a 22, but I just built this PSA AR-15 M4 profile with an A-2 sight for $374 total. If you are looking for a 22 pistol, the Ruger mark I’ve lite 22-45 is nice and a one button takedown. The S&W victory is basically the same pistol for $100 less. I’m currently buying a S&W MP15-22 sport rifle. It already comes with the front and rear Mbus sights.

takedown and I absolutely love it. Great reliable and affordable rifle (of course the suppressor barrel makes mine more expensive). Hard to beat for the price.

I was thinking of rec'g the takedown version too, but he said something about walnut and wanting to make it a hand-me-down. While I love the takedown, I'm not sure it's the best hand-me-down.
That said, plus one for the takedown.

Oh I agree, the TD wouldn't fit that mold for sure. It's cool as heck to be able to break it down into such a small backpack if you need to pack it somewhere for a hike or camping or whatever

This is the Mark IV 22-45 lite, I was about to buy it because of the one button takedown and the inter grated pic rail, but I got the rifle in the attachments instead.

I have the s&w 15-22. I love it. You’re a vet too so I’m sure you would appreciate it. I came close to getting the Ruger but I settled on the s&w. From what I’ve heard you probably won’t go wrong either way.

Agreed. Depends on your style to some degree. I've got an M&P 15/22 as well. Great little rifle. Especially if you have a bump fire stock to add some fun to it
