Honest question - What is realistic for Clemson football?

I ask this question in complete honesty.
Clemson has had wonderful success through the years. Tremendous success. Times are changing, though. That is just reality. I have great fears about the future of college football. I have had these fears for some time now and they have only grown.
With the way things are now, and where they are going, what is realistic for Clemson football to expect in the future?
Going to a bowl? Ten wins? A winning season? Try to make the playoffs occasionally?
I honestly don’t know where college football is going to be five years from now.

For this year, Pop Tart Bowl and we play Oregon State

When it’s all said and done, both team will be 8-4 and the optics of this matchup would be YUGE, YUGE ratings. Can you imagine if DJ beats his old team ? Dabo then becomes a YUGE fan of the portal. The days of a talented kid sitting on the bench “waiting his turn” are over.

You don’t have to stick around you can always leave and improve Clemson football . By the way your hero Whitehurst dreamed of winning 8 and that was his Mecca!!!

not getting their players killed leaving a strip club in a university rented vehicle driven by a staffer
i think that’s a pretty realistic expectation
as is not having their fans leave campus looking like a landfill after every home game

Win another National Title or two within the next 10 years. Make the playoffs 8 out of 10.

resigned to the effect of "Who does CLEMSON think they are? Nine wins a year is pretty much the ceiling for them, and now they have run off the only coach lately who even got them there!"
Dabo Swinney has so turned those expectations on their head that now, even TEN wins a year is unacceptable, apparently. Now, not even getting to the Playoffs and losing is acceptable. "Just" winning the ACC Championship is CERTAINLY not acceptable, because we did that only last year, and there were still gripes out the wazoo when we got beat by Tennessee in the bowl game, following the inexplicable regular season ending loss to the Coots. People want to completely discount and forget that there was a pretty dominating performance in an ACC Championship game WIN in between those two losses.
I don't know what the future holds for college football, either. The genie that the NCAA let out of the bottle when they just threw up their hands and said "Have at it, boys!" concerning NIL regulation can never be recorked. Now, you have all these serious allegations about INSTITUTIONALIZED sign stealing, and the simplest solution in the world, headset communications, that have been proven in the NFL for years now, seems also to be beyond them. College football is a ship without a Captain OR a rudder, and is going to founder on the rocks sooner rather than later.
Will it evolve (DEvolve?) into an NFL minor league system like baseball has? Do kids start out at Ivy League schools, then get promoted to ACC / Mountain West, and then on to BIG or SEC as the top tier, based on good play, or get phased out altogether due to bad play? Could what are now considered "late bloomers" in college now, never get that chance to succeed in that new system? I got no answers, but there sure are a LOT of questions.

Bulldog, I’d say be a potential playoff contender every year. That has to be the goal. But you have to make changes quickly when they are needed. Dip into portal sure, but if your offensive players aren’t being well coached , portal won’t help. Now nobody has the recruiting gold mine in his own backyard that Kirby does , but you have to prove to recruits they will get BETTER when they are at Clemson. Clearly at GA that’s what’s happening.

Being in the mix for the ACC title every year and in the 12 team playoff . Otherwise we need to find a coach that we can have for 4 million a year if our expectations are lower than this.

Playoffs?, nattys?, he sitting in his basement laughing his ### off. This is because all UGA fans think they finally have vindication for all their underachieving. They were cheating before, but now there are no rules in CFB and they know they are the kings of doing anything to win. He’s silently saying we have no chance to return to the mountain, you shouldn’t play along…

We are probably screwed by NIL but so is UGA. Enjoy the last vestiges of success before you get priced out of the market too.

As long as Clemson is in the ACC, a minimum of 10 wins every season and a major bowl game.
