Love Dabos enthusiasm and willingness to talk openly. He is much like Billy Donovan who coached basketball at UF.
You have to understand he is trying to keep everybody on board and has to be cognizant of keeping everything positive. However saying stuff like this and talking about national championships at this juncture is ill-advised IMO.

Dabo is right.
All our championship seasons, we get some good luck. Very little this year.
I like our team, they will not go undefeated, but they will have some great games.
We have had BAD teams in the past that got blown-out repeatedly in Death Valley. Not this team!
Nobody wins a championship each year, including Alabama! From what I have seen, it will be tough for Georgia this year too. We shall see.

He’s becoming more and more Tommy Bowden with each passing day. Does he not realize how that sounds coming out of his mouth?
It’s embarrassing for him the players and the fan base. It’s ridiculous nonsense. Instead of patronizing the fan base why doesn’t he get in some of these coaches faces and do his job and hold them accountable.
Let’s see if he’s still singing that ridiculous tune after Saturday bc I have a feeling Syracuse is about to get off at our expense.

dude... should he have said it? i don't know. probably not, but... he's not wrong. it's not like he said it but we all really know he's just graspin' at straws and that we're just not that good and he just doesn't have it as a HC. cause that WAS the case w/ bowden.. that is NOT the case w/ Dabo. so, just stop.
if we do what 99% of teams do and punch it in from the 1.. twice.. instead of fumble it away. we win.
if mafah picks up the block, we probably score and go up by two scores. we win.
or make the chip shot 30 yd FG w/ 1:49 left and let out D shut 'em down like they did the entire 2nd half. we win
there, literally, are about 3-4 plays that are the easy, routine plays that if we make.. we're 4-0 and top 5.
he's not wrong.

Dude, you have 5 posts and your Tiger Pulse is at 83%.
Tommy Bowden lived off of daddy's rep and never did much. I don't see the comparison with a man that made his own way and took your Tigers to the very top and not once, but twice, at that. The comparison is weak, at best.
I don't agree with what Dabo is saying, but Dabo is no Tommy Boy Bowden.

It would be embarrassing if what he said wasn’t true but he is right. We have outplayed everyone we’ve played this year. 5 or 6 fluke mistakes is what put 2 L’s in the Column. Though I’m disappointed that they are 2-2, we actually have an offense now. Cade looks light years better after the Duke game, and I honestly didn’t worry about us not being able play offense. I think this team is trending back in the right direction. You can look at everything negatively if you want. But this team answered a lot of questions I had on Saturday. They were physical, offense line was tremendous, Cade made the right decisions (-1). Though we lost, we looked like old Clemson.

This is for the team, not us fans. I love Dabo and he is exceptionally naive sometimes but hes definitely not dumb, there actually is a reason behind everything he does and this was to keep his players heads up and keep them engaged.

Well, he must not have counted the Duke game. Easier to talk about what could have been than what is. You want to be a top tier team - hire top tier coaches and assistants. Our “OJT” coaches are why we are where we are (not top 25). But the “3 plays away” sounds better however, so far away from reality.

Well, that's not even close to truth. Bobby Bowden had some great teams that lost because of wide left and wide right and they were definitely playoff teams if they had been in modern times. Also, Saban won a national title one season with a middle school level kicker. That's the honest truth, look it up.

So Gerry Thomas was the FSU wide right kicker in 1991, missed a 34 yard fg vs Miami to lose the game "wide right". So he was 9-12 on FG's during the year, and 17-17 on PATs. Through the first 4 games of this season, Clemson is 2 for 6. ### are you smokin', peyote? Maybe your cowboy hat is squeezing your brain a little too much... 2 for 6 - ain't no team gonna sniff a playoff or conference title kicking 33%. 75% is a different story.

Looked up a few of the Bama championship seasons. FG percentages: 2009 - 86%; 2011 - 78%; 2012 - 75%; 2015 - 72%; 2017 - 68% (worst of the bunch); 2020 - 100%. I'd consider anything over 70 to be reasonable for the college game. In 2017, Foster was 4 for 9; then he got benched for Shelley, who went 11 for 11 to close the season. Anything less than 70% is subpar.

I could agree with that. Look, no doubt you have to love these kids. They really are giving a great effort. Well (most of them - some don't give 100 on each play. Or it appears that way on tape). Some of the kids are giving it their all but they're just not that good. 5 years ago, they'd be 3 deep. That's all coaching. The numbers over the last 3 years bear that out. A number of kids graded better their first year and then have regressed in grades each year thereafter .
Dabo's got to realize that fact. Why are they regressing?

I think that was the case for a few players after we peaked in 2018 but I don't really see the regression now. Maybe Collins and Makuba, but I don't see that much even with them.
I don't like the whining, but 2 fumbles inside the 5 against Duke and the scoop and score against FSU. They happened so we lost the games but I think this team is the most talented since 2018. I think that is what Dabo is trying to stress to all of the people that are asking why isn't this team better.
The defense has played great and the offense has as well 95% of the time. If we eliminate the mistakes then we run the table and do it with ease.

3 touchdowns away from tying Duke. He's making it sound like we are just having a bit of bad luck and we are doing most everything else right.
We are not a top-5 team at all. That's fine. I can accept that. I'm not mad about it. I'm not entitled to it. But it's ridiculous to say we are 3 plays away from being top 5 after getting owned by DUKE.
If we had handled our business against Duke and lost this game I would be fine with this comment. MAYBE even if we lost a close game against Duke.... but they BLEW US OUT. We looked like crap.

In other words, this team has underperformed and that is due to poor coaching and preparation.
3 plays? I don’t agree with that. Forcing Cade to run RPO’s that he can’t execute (coaching),
marching a kicker out that is not ready (coaching), RB’s missing blitzing safeties (coaching), Repeatedly running 3 man fronts that let the offense pick us apart (coaching).
What I do agree with is this team can compete on a very high level. They need to own their mistakes, eliminate them, and go beat somebody with a pulse. The talent is there and was evident last Saturday.

Weitz had been with team for 4 years prior to his return and was 100% kicking on the day and final attempt was well within his range and the ball was centered for him. Maybe a bad call if he missed anything or hadn’t come out all day, maybe a better play could have been called on 3rd, but attempting the kick on 4th was not a bad call.

In every sport it comes down to one or two moments between winning and losing all the time. The fact is, if you lost the game, you lost. I really can’t believe this is coming out of his mouth… he should be saying we need to be better, not we are “three plays away.” Which is completely inaccurate. You change three plays on the season and we’re still 3-1

I have vented as have many of us and that is fine but it's Tuesday and time to move forward. Fortunately it is easier for the players to do this than it is for us fans. They have some control and we don't. Frankly I have every reason to think we will SHOW UP and we will put a complete game together this week and show what we can do.

I don't understand why he couldn't just say something like, "We're a few bad breaks away from being right where we want to be. But we can't cry about that; we're too good a team to let that get us down. We've got the talent and we are improving as our guys get more comfortable in their roles. We are blessed to have depth and have gotten some great young talent in games which is going to pay dividends down the road. We will continue to improve and we will continue to compete. This season is far from over and our guys are excited to get after a good Syracuse team on Saturday."
He used to be so good at this in a very humble and unassuming way. I hope he finds his rhythm again and gets back to being the guy that everyone admired.

LMAO Dabo,, V Tech, UVA and a number of other Teams are saying their only 5 plays away from be a top 5 Team also. I'm assuming Dabo is referring to 7 points per play.

In every big game there will be a couple of plays that make the difference and give a team the edge to win. Against Duke it was the redzone turnovers and one particular missed tackle; against FSU it was the blown protection that led to a scoop and score and the missed FG... those are the glaring ones from the two losses... ANY of those plays could have gone our way... then we would most likely be 4-0 and a Top 5 team...
