It's what other teams did is all.
The sport is more competitive than ever before, sincerely, rather than a conspiracy against us by the company that pays the bills & broadcasts our games, know what I mean?

any top 25 poll. That makes no sense at all, and it has NOTHING to do with teams who passed up looking better than us. That’s a fact and the disrespect is clear throughout the years. We have a bad rep because of the DJ era, and we’re gonna have to beat FSU in o get it back.
Let’s gooo!!

Yeah, for non-SEC teams, they make little mental judgments if they fit their narratives.
They also mentally award, and some physically by sending in ballots, the Heisman after about the first third to half of the season.

I saw a top 25 team. Many top 25 teams did not look great against inferior opponents yesterday.
I think right now the Tigers are a top 20 team, but with the current play not CFP material. Hoping that changes over the next couple of weeks.

Crazy that anyone is impressed by a 49-point win over a bad FCS team that only won 2 games last year. Clemson was expected to win by over 50 points, even after losing to Duke by 21 and losing 3 of the last 4 games (and 4 of the last 7), so we didn't even cover the spread and looked awful in the first half.

Our offense sputtered for a little while and STILL had almost 700 yards and 66 points going in for another score.
They had 3 true offensive points and less than 100 yards or something like that.
We did what we were supposed to do against CSU, IN SPITE of starting slowly and two gigantic miscues by one player.

Same issues as last week. When CSU was fresh we could not get separation with our WR. I see that about 5 minutes into the 3rd we started to get open a little. CSU does not have quality depth. We had to wear them down for separation to occur. Let that sink in! We had to wear down CSU in order to get WR'S open!! Togers are not a top 25 team. FSU is gonna finally pull people's heads out the sand. The Tiger team is FAR from elite.

I see you’re like me. We have a low percentage because we speak the truth. This offense is terrible. We can’t break big plays on the ground because we don’t have a home run hitter in the backfield. Please don’t scream how awesome Shipley is. He’s not. Look at the backs from FSU Alabama, Texas, Georgia? Those are running backs. We’ve got a good RB who cannot busy big plays unless there are gaping holes to run through. The kid runs tough but he’s far from elite. The QB stinks as bad as DJU as last year didn’t anyone wonder why they weren’t putting in klubnik? Many of the times they put the kid in he made poor choices ie Notre dame.

It’s not namecalling to say yours is an ignorant take.
7th on offense, and 8th on defense. Please do a little homework next time before throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks.
Thanks. Go Tigers!

[ in reply to Re: LOL! ] |

Apparently you weren’t even really watching huh? Just because we’re not connecting to wide open guys running down the field, but that’s not something you usually see at this level. QBs need to make (literally) split second decisions, no nobody will give you more than 3-5 seconds to find the best option.
Cade is still learning to process the college game. He got a handle on it late, but as I watched the 2nd and 3rd levels he repeatedly wasn’t seeing the most advantageous receiver, and he was more confident and comfortable throwing to check downs.
He’ll get it figured out, but the gnashing of teeth over a very talented receiver corp is bs propagated by Walt Deptoola and Faxon Childress. These guys, especially Walt, aren’t even watching the 2nd and 3rd levels to discern where the WRs are. They’re not seeing 50 yard bombs to Tee Higgins or Mike Williams, and without even really studying it further they go with the lazy take.
Please stop acting like you even watched the 2nd and 3rd levels. You were focused on the QB, and just because he was nervous and having trouble processing the speed and finding the right receiver, that doesn’t mean there weren’t better choices all over the place. He got much netter at it as the game went on, and it had NOTHING to do with their DBs getting tired. That’s just another lazy take.
Please look closer and stop listening to Walt and Faxon. Watch the 2nd and 3rd levels and let’s talk after next Saturday.
Go Tigers!

I have to disagree with you. I don’t see a lot of separation between receivers and D backs based on speed alone. It’s mostly because the WR knows the pattern & puts a move on that gives him a couple steps. And half the time the DB runs him down. And downfield completions are mostly because the WR out wrestles the DB for the ball. Hence the term “50/50 ball”. IMO height is a greater advantage for a WR than speed. That transfer receiver at FSU is gonna give us fits but not because he’s fast - because he’s tall. Your point about depth and fatigue is well taken. But we need receivers that can outfight a DB for the catch when we play a D1 team that has depth at DB

"IN SPITE of starting slowly and two gigantic miscues by one player."
What you don't seem to understand is that coming off a loss to Duke we cannot have a slow start or miscues. That is exactly why we fell in the rankings. It became obvious that Clemson's problems against Duke were definitely not a one-off bad game. Based on the repeat it is convincing that the problems are real and persistent. The subsequent blowout was made meaningless by the "IN Spite of."

The same turds who are downplaying this game are jumping on Big Stinko's gamecock like a $20 hooker. How can you people show so much love for a QB who threw 8 passes for 70 yards and not show any love for CK. INCIDENTALLY, the fumble so many of you are talking about was cause by a really bad snap. No one saw that? Jeez

It was Charleston Southern. Charleston Southern. And Clemson looked like week old dog crap in the first half versus Charleston Southern. Until proven otherwise, ie beating FSU, this team does not deserve to be ranked. Y’all take off the orange tinted glasses.

Clemson ain't ever getting break from the vast majority of the media as long as Dabo is running the show. Sorry, that is a fact. Unfair, but a fact. THAT is why we need to use every possible tool and create every possible advantage for ourselves to win on the field. The wins are undeniable. Sadly we don't. Instead wee keep piling weight on the program with walk-on schollies, inexperienced coaches and ignoring the portal.

Because they don’t like Dabo?
Please get a clue. Clemson will get the playoff nod if we win out, and Dabo will keep his 2nd best coach in the game, factual standing.

They don't like what Dabo and what he represents. God, family, etc. If we winout it, we might get the nod for the CFP. DO you like our chances? I honestly don't. 2 losses is the best we can realistically hope for.

Here's some reality for you. Clemson was ranked 8TH by the committee on 11/22/22 going in our game against UofSuCk - who was unranked at the time. BUt yeah, beating them would have somehow vaulted us into the top 4. LOL. Stop typing and move along clown.

Only an ignorant person would be blind to the FACT we were in had we beaten USuC and of course the ACC championship.
These lazy takes by guys who obviously have no clue about the real game are literally pollution to Clemson. It’s embarrassing really. Sooo lazy in the takes, without any REAL clue what’s truly going on out there. Just b!tch and moaning after a 700 yards, 66 point performance where we could’ve had 1000 yards and 100 points.
You dudes are embarrassing. Please present your lazy, comical, ignorant, and whiny takes to Dabo on his call-in show tonight and let’s watch him school you just like he does an ignorant media member just saying BS to found interesting and informative while trying to force a story which is patently false.
I’m sure you’re a decent dude, but the ignorance and whining is an embarrassment to people who have actually played the game and didn’t learn football from a video game.
Maybe dudes like you would have a more pleasant life if you followed something you’ve actually tried or have experienced knowledge in. Football and P5 speed doesn’t see for you. If Clemson makes you so bizarrely unhappy, then why go fishing or basketweaving on Saturdays? You’re spoiled and don’t really even know what’s happening out there for 4 quarters. Talk to Dabo and get a lesson. Please.
I’m like 100% positive you lack the cahones to call Dabo. I’ll be listening!

Ya reckon it would have been different if we beat USuC?
OF COURSE IT WOULD HAVE MEANT WE WERE IN!
Please stop trying soooo hard to derail the program you love. Just let the season play out, then if you want to vent go ahead. But ignorance and laziness is no way to represent OUR school when we’re two games into a long season.
And too, we’re 7th on offense and 8th on defense. The wheels are intact; back off the ledge man!

I guess you were in a coma last week then? Dabo and Clemson were skull-drug by the media with some talking heads inferring he just might be a racist too. But keep talking about meaningless preseason polls. I am sure they have WAY more influence on recruits than what we endured last week.

They ended up with less than a 100 yards. Their offense scored 3 stinkin points. We won the 2nd half 42-0 and it could have been much, much worse.

I’m sad to say, but this is facts. There’s no way we’re gonna win out. We just need to start gearing up for next year. Which, if we can get some wide receiver play into the fold, could be a really special year. Our goal for this year, is beat South Carolina, win the bowl game, and finish in the top 25

You're exactly right. If somehow Big Stinko had beaten the gameCOCKS, he would have surely started the ACC championship game. If somehow he had won that game, he would have surely started in the 1 v 4 CFP game. And if somehow, he had plinkoed his way past UGA, then, you guessed it, he would have surely started for the TCU game.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY WE WOULD HAVE EVER WON OUT LAST YEAR!!!

Second best coach in the game?? Okay says who? You. Saban is better, Ryan Day is better, Kirby Smart is much better, Lincoln Riley is better, and don’t say oh well Dabo has two titles. Those titles are in the rear view mirror right now he is far from the second best coach in college football it’s dolt like comments like that, that enable him to continue doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The wr from FSU THAT IS GOING TO EAT OUR LUNCH , already had four TD’s and shocker, he’s a transfer.

And THAT’S why we were in the playoffs until the coot loss, and will be there again if we can win out.

Clemson will not deserve a top 25 ranking until they can demonstrate they can beat a top 25 team. FSU, ND, now Miami, possibly USC and NCS all appear to be very capable of beating Clemson, especially if Klubnik continues to score points for the opposing team (14 per game) and the O line continues to underachieve. WRs played better but still seem to have difficulty getting separation from average DBs. This is looking like an 8-4 season. Could be worse. So no, Clemson is not a top 25 team right now.

If we beat FSU then we will be ranked again. If we don't, that will probably end the debate.

Shocking how many really think this is some type of conspiracy. There's several metrics that are used, including the eye test, our sos for teams played etc etc. Then voted on.
I'm a lot more concerned with the why we're not a top 5, and what is coach going to do to get us back there. So yeah, we have a lot more to be concerned with than debating an espn conspiracy.

Maybe it’s because our quarterback keeps handing the other team touchdowns. If we do that against Florida State, we’re gonna lose by 30.

Clemson wont sniff Top 25 until QB mistakes get fixed

We dropped out of the top 25 for four reasons, all of which pertained to the performance of a football team’s single most influential player.
QB fumbled twice (one of which was recovered by us).
QB threw an interception that was tied for the game of football’s most awful interception in history.
QB threw a second such wanna be interception that miraculously didn’t get caught by Charleston Southern; we were only dinged with an intentional grounding penalty (with the accompanying loss of down).
These are 4 catastrophically bad plays which no good team should ever do in a game.
Combined with our QB’s very poor play against Duke, the Top 25 voters recognized the obvious: Clemson won’t beat any opponent that has not already been embalmed if our QB persists in making multiple horrific mistakes.
Until the Tigers play their first game that doesn’t have multiple horrific mistakes from our QB, we can forget about the top 25.

I agree with this. I don’t think ANY team should be ranked if they were number 25 and beat a team like Charleston Southern. It’s no better than a practice and team or individual stats should not count. Don’t see any purpose served.

It’s ESPN so about explains it but kind of ridiculous. UNC had to go to 2 OT’s to win there game and I certainly hope they dropped them.

AP voters saw the exact same problems in the first half that they saw against Duke. It's that simple. They saw a team that they thought would probably not beat any other top-25 team even though the CSU game ended up in a blowout. It is hard to be honest as a fan but in the first half did you really see a complete team that played like a top 25? The struggle early on would not have been significant if they had not had the same type of problems that they had against Duke. That hurt us and dug us deeper into the hole.
We are only 2 games in. Lot's of time left to right the ship. Klubnic will get better every game. He just needs playing time. There should be no yanking this guy in the 3rd or even 4th quarter of a blowout. Play him every second.

Games are four quarters and should be judged accordingly.

Makes no sense how any knowledgeable fan wouldn’t already know this concept.
We crushed them just like we were supposed to do. Two key TO’s and 14 points for CSU, then getting shut down the rest of the way while we’re scoring at will was how the game really turned out.
That’s the way football and four quarters work. Always has been that way and always will.
