Brad admitted that it is a recruiting problem with the defense. Gosh, does the AD watch these pressers?

And have David show up to a post game and grill Brownlee about what he means and how it sounds. No one is better with words than David and I know if there was no repercussions he would filet Brad.

They deserve better than being called physically weak. He’s the one who can’t beat Sabo at 1:1 and went to Sarah Lawrence or some lib arts school.

Also as Brad gets older he looks more like Dean Smith, but don't mean the coaching...

I think every coach calls their players soft when they aren't playing well defensively to motivate them.

I didn’t see much offensively other than missed 3 clunkers and nothing from the defensive side. You could say an off night but dang, we blew it to BC before. I don’t follow BB that closely but it looks like a recruiting and coaching problem. Fixing both would result in a new coach.
I may be wrong, but haven’t seen much of late.

Coaches with backbone share that kind of talk in the gym during practice and not to the media and public trying to weasel out of accountability.

Opening statement. “I’ve got a great group of kids, they just aren’t tough enough.”

So dramatic. Brownell can't do right in these pressers.
If he discusses our issues, it's "he's blaming the players"
If he acts like everything is all good, then "he's not taking this seriously enough."
You have a problem with everyone of his pressers. He's not Dabo.

Problem is, he has consistently said similar stuff about his players for at least nearly a decade.

Yeah I know. That’s why we have so many transfers each year.

Odd that 4/10 returning players transferred just last year and a bunch of walk-ons decided to quit.

My god. Brownell keeps it real and states facts in his presser and you babies have to cry about it.
Yes he was pissed off, I would be too. He knows his seat is hot and we are going through a terrible run. Do you want him to be exuberant and happy?

That's the issue. He's pissed off and worried about his job. He should be concerned about the program and his guys.
As a leader, you need to put your guys in the best position to succeed. Usually, that means taking some extra heat on yourself to take the external pressure off of your guys. So, they can focus on what you're telling them.
Hard to do that when you say your guys aren't tough enough to play with a .500 Syracuse team in the opening 17 secs of a press conference.
You say we need to get tougher on ball screens. Sure, he tried to say that after the fact to hedge his opening statement after being questioned on whether he was talking about effort. He should have identified the issue and let the fans and media argue about why it's happening while he tries to fix it.
