He did a great job here, and we wish him well at OU with CBV.
We are looking forward to 2022, and meeting OU in the playoffs! Might be tough, they lost BOTH their experienced QB’s to the portal.
We’ll see Rattler with the coots.

It would be really funny if the coots met up with OU in a bowl game next season. That would be the first time that I would pull for their opponent to lose. I've always pulled for any team playing them, but not if they were playing OU. I wouldn't pull for the coots, I would just pull for OU to lose
I mean, I believe that the Tigers that left us to go with a non Clemson man to coach at OU, they need to be taught a lesson, and a nasty lesson, and OU losing to the coots would be a nasty lesson!!!

I dunno, maybe if the OU football team burned down my house and cut off a critical 'appendage' then I'd have to think hard about whether to pull for them or U. of S.Carolina.
Short of that (no pun intended re: cut off 'appendage'), I'd never pull for U. of S.Carolina to beat any team.

Perhaps should have done this a bit sooner, but compare this situation to how some other coaches have left Clemson, like Rick Barnes or Oliver Purnell...

Someone did a good job writing this for him. It would be interesting to know if it was his agent or Okla that put these genuine heartfelt feelings together and expressed them.

I do seriously wonder if Brent told him to do this...fix things with Clemson? I don’t Twitter, and not that I agree with them, but did see a bunch of links where some Clemson fans were getting after him and Chavis, allegedly for recruiting Clemson 2023 recruits to Oklahoma and the “didn’t leave Venables D in South Carolina” stuff. That drama playing out publicly couldn’t be good for BV’s new culture at OU and recruiting.

Someone might have told them that Coach V wouldn't approve of their actions.

Just as you (i.e., designtiger), 74TIGER and Ihopehedo had opined, I believe that BV told T.Bates to get over the stupid stuff and write a classy 'thank you' to the Clemson coaches and team.
And I also believe that an 'apology' sent this far after the fact is too late, and reeks of insincerity (due to someone else having to tell him to do it).
Regardless, no ill-wishes towards Todd Bates; I hope that he grows up quickly (as he needs to, given his role as a mentor to young men).

It’s fine. Coach Swinney’s coaching tree is growing. The alternative would mean nobody’s wanted our coaches which would not be good. Hope Bates does well (not against us) and gets a head job with the big bucks somewhere someday.
He more than earned his paycheck at Clemson. It’s a business and being a coordinator or even a co-coordinator at one of the top 6 historic programs is a valid reason to jump. Wish him good health and his lovely young family well and quit acting like jealous teenage girlfriends.
