Learn something new everyday. Speaking of that, anyone else committed to clemson (baseball or basketball pre rule change) that went on to be a star and never stepped foot on campus?

Jeff Francouer was a pretty highly touted safety I think too. Too old for my memory. But I remember hearing that he probably would have played both baseball and football at Clemson.

... was a very good high school quarterback. I think he committed to Danny Ford but opted for baseball and had a decent career.

We also offered current Cavs shooting guard J.R. Smith as a free safety back in the mid '00s. He was a great football player and we were one of his first offers, but he obviously wound up choosing basketball (committed to UNC, became a McDonald's All-American, and then bypassed college for the NBA).

Did Gronk ever actually commit? I think he just toyed with before heading for the party in the desert.

long time ago, but mike scoscia was a baseball commit. we had a guy named oded katesh, an Isaeli i believe, who was supposed to be a great basketball player but never came to the states. also, supposedly, we had a commit from dirk nowitski to play at CU if he played in college,. of course, he went pro.
