You're not last in the country on offense by accident....

The TE apologist on TNET will blame the OL (which does suck) or they will say DJ needs to grow into the role but they will defend TE till the end.
What gives? Anyone with an eye can see that our play calling is absolutely horrid. I am sure that UC Davis has a really bad OL but why aren't they last in offense in the country?
I hope to God Dabo cleans house this offseason with our offensive staff. They can't develop anyone.

Our basketball program is almost always fighting an uphill battle. We routinely play teams with better history, better support, and better talent. But we keep fighting and grinding. And many times, we win despite those obstacles.
Why? Good coaching.
Our basketball coaches are not perfect. But they typically overachieve. It’s easy to get behind coaches like that.
We typically have very good coaching in football too. But not this year. It’s been a huge disappointment. If you can’t see how much we have underachieved this year in football, you should pay attention more.

You’re like some of the others here who can’t take any criticism of our football program or our football coaches, so when I post something you don’t like you bring up basketball.
It’s so predictable. It’s also funny. And sad.

Sorry- had to laugh at this misunderstanding and all the circumstances from posts long ago that led to the reaction by Judge.
I thought that is what you meant as well. If you are on this board regularly, you know that Judge is a big supporter of the basketball program and has defended BB. He catches grief about it all the time. Thus, I am sure this is what he totally thought you meant.

“We typically have very good coaching in football too. But not this year.“
So did they all just forget how to coach this year??? Or does a 3 loss season just automatically make them worse coaches than all the TNet experts?

Thing about that argument is that Malzahn is coaching a G5 school and won a national title. Chizik won a national title as well. Difference is that Elliot had not one but two generational QBs, those guys didn't. At the end of the day having these QBs that shore up the bad playcalling.

While everybody has been calling for DJs head I've been trying to say the problems on offense are much bigger than the QB spot. When it's just about every position on offense that's not performing, who should you look at?

DJ can't throw and the line (or WRs) can't block.
Did we miss on all of our 5 and 4 stars plays in every position? OR do the coaches suck at developing them and calling plays?

DJ at this point has underperformed, BUT it is in no way all his fault. The line is bad and this is very concerning for future years. Look at what happened with FSU. It all started with misses on the oline and oline coaching / evaluation.
The entire offense is to blame.
Tony is Tony. He has been a terrible play caller for years and the scheme is not much better than the high schools in the local area. The crazy talent at QB and some wideouts have saved him. A good OC would have found a way to scheme this offense to at least a top 80 offense. We may only have 1 loss with that happening.

Do think TE could have been a little more imaginative on that last series but seriously did you watch the game? Offense scored 30 points is there was a weakness tonight it was on the defensive side. Made Cunningham look like Lamar Jackson. They bailed out on the goal line stand but for much of the game they looked out of position. I know you’re going to have bad outings and they have been the reason for our previous wins but tonight the offense picked up the defense until the stand.

I think it is hard to measure what our lack of offensive production has done to this defense. Having to play so much due to the three and outs and the pressure on them to win games eventually takes its toll. I think if our O was half as good as it has been in the past, the D would shine.

You use the the fact that we scored 30 points like it’s a great thing.
30 points against this trash team with the talent on this team is still pitiful. 3 tds all game. Pitiful. Is it an improvement? Yes. But still pitiful.

It’s funny. For someone that fancies themselves so intelligent you don’t seem to notice the details. Like, the post you just replied to didn’t say anything about coots. And the only post I made with that word didn’t call you one. It said your post spawned a circle jerk of coot posts. Which it did. Pro-tip: when you attract the affirmation of Judge Keller on an anti-football post you done f’d up. If you actually had anything insightful to say about our football team in would be fine: but you’re regurgitating the same tired tripe as everyone else. Dabo isn’t going anywhere and he will decide who stays and who’s goes. Your posts nor mine make one iota of difference. So enjoy the ride or GTFO. Otherwise you’re just wantonly reveling in being anti-Clemson - which is pretty cootish.

This offense has been a perfect storm of crap all year. I’d say 80% of the issues though are on the offensive play calling and the OL development. The rest can be tweaked and healed with time, (injuries, DJ’s lack of confidence, WR drops, etc.)

So we’ve played 9 games this season and you really think play calling is our biggest issue? What have you been watching? It’s always a lazy argument anyway as it’s based on hindsight results. You could have the same play called and one loses yards and the other goes for an 80 yard TD. But someone missed a block in the first one and not the other. Do you then say the 80 yard TD was a bad play call ? We are all frustrated this year, but play calling is way down the list of our issues unless you just want to blame someone to make you feel better.

I have been watching games all my life. The play calling and game planning has been an issue for years now. Crazy QB talent overcame and covered up allot, but many of us were bringing this to light even during the championship runs.
Things like vanilla offense, our scheme is send the WR down and the the ball up Hero style, not using the middle of the field, running the WR screen when you are not quick thinking enough to call a different play, etc. have been said by myself and other posters.
Bottom line glad the Tigers won, but us winning in spite of Tony Elliott’s play calling and game planning may keep him in this position. Bottom line you have to be able get this talent to at least a top 80 offense.

Remember it ain’t hard to call a game when you have a great qb. The sign of a good offensive coordinator is when you don’t have great players and you have good play calling to the strength you have. So far I haven’t seen it. My main proof to this theory is for Gods sake he Shipley on the outside He’s a race horse not a bull dozer. Something is wrong when we as fans see it but a 2 million guy doesn’t

Tony Elliot’s play design and play calling are the most unimaginative I’ve seen in college football. Granted, we’ve had week performances by the offensive line, the quarterback, and the wide receivers have been inconsistent, but if you objectively look at the plays that are being called, and the designs of the plays, they do not give this offense an opportunity to excel to any degree. There is no imagination, no creativity; making it easy for weak defenses to shut down or offense. The only reason this offense has excelled the last eight years is because of three outstanding quarterbacks, outstanding running backs, and incredible wide receivers. Clemson‘s offensive success is not because of Tony Elliot, it’s because of the great playmakers that were on the team.
