Anybody else see this...

2

May 10, 2023, 12:25 PM

A college baseball player up at some college in Minnesota that I have never heard of, gets ejected over a wild bat flip following a home run.

Agree or disagree? What say ye?

I would have tossed his arrogant little a$$ too. The coach needs to teach his players some sportsmanship and some class.

Here's the link to the story:

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

I thought Grice had an excessive bat flip a couple weeks back that would have got him ejected even just a few years back let alone 20 or 30 yrs ago. This one looks like he hurled it practically back to his dugout.

Agreed! Sportsmanship needs to make a return to the game. That also goes for all these "Little League" activities such as stomping home plate and making fake golf swings after an extra base hit. Looks like the manager got tossed as well, so he evidently agrees with the showboating and teaches it to his kids. Sad! The American Pastime is beginning to look more and more like WWF.

totally agree

baseball teams act like a bunch of wild animals cooped up in a zoo for any little thing. Heck, they pretend to sling snot after a single or do that log throw deal our guys seem to like. Really? Overhyped much to get your hits on social media?

We’re going to regret allowing our team to have their antics also. Stomping the plate, the arm swings after a base hit, so “little league.”
Remember how major league pitchers would solve this problem?

If it’s obviously and intentionally to get at the opposing team or player, then yes it must be sanctioned.

But the kids need to be able to have fun. Having fun for 20 year old men in college playing baseball is dominating other teams and letting them know it. They’re athletes.

Look at how Ronald Acuna Jr celebrates when he hits a no doubter or some other play. He gets pumped, but keeps it to himself and not outward at the other team. That’s how players should be taught to express.

Sportsmanship has all but disappeared from athletics. I have been watching a lot of Major League baseball and almost every player that hits a homerun trots around the base paths making all sorts of gestures. Base hits also attract the gestures. Some of you won't like this but Neon Deion started a lot of this with his show boating.

The problem is this sort of thing happens in every sport these days. Where did the days of scoring a touchdown and just going back to the bench go? Where did the days of making a great play in basketball or hitting a clutch homerun go and just moving on to the next play. Sports are no longer about teams or winning or losing but about individuals trying to have more views on You Tube than the next guy.

You're a cruel one, Mr. Grinch. Let the kid celebrate. And

then, let the pitcher give him a nice sized bruise on his backside his next at bat with a pitch that "got away". Old time baseball policed itself, it did not need the umpires to do it for them.

Yes….my thoughts exactly! Can’t remember the batter, but years ago, the batter started digging in at the plate and Bob Gibson was on the mound. Gibson told him to get a shovel because he was going to bury him right there!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is BS! Celebration antics on hurt weak souled peeps***
