Just like the so called discipline issued against Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma. Two offensive plays and he's back in the game. I'm sure he's really repentant after that. The people who run the schools and conferences have no stomach in standing up for what's right. They are weak and afraid to take a stand and so, they let the idiots run amok. I was thinking of going to the Syracuse game (I live in the northeast), but was concerned about this very thing, especially if Clemson had won. Pretty sad that we now have to be cautious about attending a road game because of unruly fans. All I can say about Tiger fans is that when I went to the Clemson-Syracuse game in 2014 at Death Valley the ones making the most noise were some Orange rooters sitting behind me- mostly in mocking tones. Clemson fans politely did not respond. Great testimony about the Tiger faithful. Fans and team are the best. GooooooTigers!!!!!!!!!!

So how can you tell the difference between acceptable and unacceptable behavior other than having someone come out a couple of days later and say it was unacceptable?
Are there any penalties for this “unacceptable behavior”? I mean, if I buy a water at concessions is there any difference in what happens to me if I throw it rather than drink it?

This is basically no response at all. If SC administration was really interested in a response, they would review the tapes and attempt to identify who threw the bottles and take appropriate actions. I was there, and it was awful.

They are a total embarrassment to college sports inside and outside the stadium - and they take pride in being that way. Easy answer to this problem.
Play the game in Clemson where real fans attend games. Give the chickens a few thousand extra tickets away from the playing field. IF anything happens, we can take care of it ourselves! Guaranteed to solve this problem.

I really respected Ray Tanner as a baseball coach. But, his “addressing“ of this problem with just calling it “unacceptable behavior” has caused me to lose all respect for him. That is the most cowardly, unresponsive, ridiculous, you name it, statement I have ever read. If that is all that is going to be done and said about this, then Tanner needs to be removed immediately from his position. Failure to do so would be “unacceptable behavior”!!!

The problem is it is like disciplining a child. It doesn't do much good a week after. They should have been identifying people as it was happening and kicking them out then so that others could see that it was consequences. There should also be continuing punishment such as revoking student or season ticket privileges.

All they had to do was flood that area with security people and uniformed officers. Throw out the people that are throwing things. After about 5-6 are told to leave, others would have stopped. And if not, clear the entire section. They did NOTHING to even try to control it.

My good friend whom I work with is A Carolina Grad, he has season tickets and attends all the Games. We work together every day and have never had even a cross word about anything much less about a football game. He said that in his section there were at least 75 Clemson fans who were arrested or removed from the game for throwing things and starting fights. He also says that Clemson fans were fighting and stealing things ( food) during tailgates. I believe him. I also think that drunk people act like idiots. Anybody and I mean anybody that acts that way should be punished and embarrassed and shamed publicly. It is ridiculous.

I was there and I saw exactly 1 Clemson fan near me, lower level section 20, get escorted out. I didn't see what happened but I did see a Clemson fan sitting three rows in front of me cheering in the 2nd QTR and got "sucker pushed" from behind. He was alone so I am guessing the Coot thought he would get away with it. The Clemson fan pushed the other guy about two rows deep, up the stands. The Clemson fan had every right to do that and promptly moved down a few rows to another seat, near other Clemson fans.
No one was escorted out or arrested in that incident. After the end of the 3rd QTR, there were not many Gamecocks left to escort out, they had all left.

Several observations about your post.
1 What does it matter that you work with a tarhole have to do with an article related to coots throwing stuff on the field during our game with scar?
2 What section does your coworker sit in?
3 How many Clemson fans were sitting in a section for coot season ticket holders? What percentage of the Clemson fans sitting in that section were arrested/removed?
4 Were any coots arrested/removed for fighting back or did they just sit there and take their licking?
5 Can your coworker get us a link to the Clemson fans arrest record?
As others have stated, I too think your coworker is lying. I think the two of you don't argue because you are gullible and believe everything he says, even work related conversations. Maybe it's time for you to look a little deeper into your relationship with this person.
I doubt if 75 fans have ever been removed/arrested from a single section during a scar home game. This doesn't even seem reasonable as a season total. If so, your coworker needs to find a different section.

I will answer your question with a question. Do you think that there were not any people wearing Clemson clothing that have ever caused a problem at a Ballgame?
Calling people you do not know just because you do not like the report is pretty low.
They were at Carolina so I would think that anybody involved in an altercation wearing Orange would be more likely to be removed.

I've seen reports of the USC fan behavior on the news all weekend here in California. Certainly an embarrassment to the University and to the state. Tanner's weak comments do nothing to diffuse the damage that has been done. USC leadership needs to come out with a strong statement with repercussions to try and repair their reputation....not that there was much to begin with.
