Clemson vs SCar recruiting 2020

Obviously Clemson is crushing it and will continue to crush. We have all been spoiled lately.
However, I wanted to open the flood gates, or a civilized discussion, regarding ol chubby cheeks Cusschamp is actually recruiting pretty well down in the cesspool of Columbia.
I don't know too much about SCar's class but I just was admiring the Clemson 300--err, the ESPN Top 300 prospects and all the lovely orange paws littering the list! Woop!
Then I saw that SCar has a top QB committed named Luke Doty. He's from Myrtle Beach and he seems pretty good.
What does everyone think of the kid? If we didn't have the #1 QB in DJ, would we want Doty?
And does anyone else hope that Scar can be a Top 25 team each year and continue losing to Clemson? It helps our record of destroying ranked SEC teams.

Well GWPTiger®, what felt better... beating USC for the first time after a 5 year streak of them winning.... or last year when our team slept walk through the game and everyone felt like we lost because we only won by 21 and gave up so many points... you know the answer... and by using THAT logic... it's more fun to beat them when they think they're better than average. So while we all enjoy their misery, it's better to be the one who inflicts the most misery rather than having others do it for us. I await your rebuttal...

My favorite win personally was when we beat them and threw Zero bars on the field because the inbred coots didn't win a game all year. So yeah, I'll take more of that as opposed to them being in the top 25.

Luke was raised a Clemson fan. If this were 10-12 years ago, he'd be a Tiger, and he'd be a big get for us. But our recruiting success means that guys we would have been excited about not so long ago don't even get offers.
He's fast and athletic...could be another Hunter Renfroe if he walked on. But the chance to play in state on full scholly means the kid has to be a coot. Too bad for him and his folks.

Is he, in your opinion, a Willy Korn type? or reminds you of Colt McCoy a little? He seems fast for a high school player and a decent touch on the ball. however I don't think he has elite arm strength. He would not start at Clemson but he will be an upgrade over 5head Bentley.

What’s great is this perceived good class coupled with a lot of their best players are directly related to our recruiting. Doty and Joyner would be 100% Tigers if given the opportunity. Edwards the WR (maybe their best) wasn’t good enough to garner a WR schollie at Clemson but as a Safety. Maybe second best Shi Smith couldn’t get any offer from Clemson but was a top 250 4 star kid. Several players in 2020 like Tonka, Murphy from NC, Evans skinny kid from NC, and several others would be Clemson leans if it weren’t for all the 5 stars we get. UofSC gets better because we out recruit our past level of talent.

We've reached 4 straight CFP's, played in 3 national championship games during that time, and won 2 of the last 3 national championships. How exactly would South Carolina being ranked in the top 25 do anything to improve our situation?

I guess I'm having a hard time understanding why everyone wants them to lose every game considering our consistent dominance over them. If it doesn't matter if they are awful then why is it so hard to understand beating them when they're ranked is actually better for us... It's just wanting to hate them that fuels those answers... if you apply that same logic to FSU, doesn't hold. It IS BETTER FOR FSU TO BE RANKED when we play, correct?... or at least someone in the ACC... or do we want to face another 7-5 Pittsburgh team in the ACC championship game each year... I await your answers.

They haven't been ranked lately, and it hasn't hurt our SOS to the point of costing us a spot in the CFP, so it wouldn't change anything for us. Who cares about a feather in the cap for beating 1 more SEC team, we've been getting plenty of feathers in our caps lately with things that actually matter like national championships.
Who actually pulls for their rivals to do well? Why do I want their fans to be overall happy with how their football program is doing? Why would I want any recruits in the area to have another top 25 program to consider when deciding on where to play college football?

They know what's coming and their spirit is already broken.
It's MUCH more satisfying when they don't screw up their pathetic SEC Least schedule and actually think they have a chance. Then you get to watch their spirit suffer and die DURING THE GAME. Plus we get a SOS boost since they're in the it-just-means-more-cause-we-got-Bama-who's-cycling-out-but-still-Bama conference.
It would also be nice to beat em when they're 5-6 so we can make sure they stay home during bowl week.
Speaking of SOS, it was a criminal insult to Syracuse and Texas A&M when somebody said the coots would be our toughest game the other day. Despite what I said above, they're going to suck this year lol.

Luke Doty wanted a Clemson offer and would have likely committed if we had offered. He is a decent player, just a notch under Brice at HS level, probably little better passer than Cahn but not as athletic. He would have been a take if DJ went else where.

I'll admit that I didn't know what to expect from TP before the spring game, but I'm really impressed with arm now that I have seen it in person. I've only seen film on Doty, but I would still take TP over Doty if they were in the same class based on the arms alone, and I would prefer to take an instate guy if he is equal or just slightly less than an out of state guy when you're talking about 4 or 3 star players...

I was basing it on HS JR film vs JR film. I think at same age, yes i think Doty's arm is a little more accurate. Cahn looked like a different player at Spring game vs his JR HS film. Like one of our Tnetters mentioned, Doty would have been a great addition several yrs ago but recruiting is next level. Even if we didnt get DJ this yr and we needed a QB, i would be good with Doty commit.

Probably because you literally have to hope that their football program improves, you have to actually pull for them to win more games, and because we don't need them to be in the top 25 to achieve our goals which has been proven over the past 4 years.
You have a right to feel however you like, but you'll find that the vast majority of Clemson fans will disagree with you, and that the vast majority of their fans feel the same in reverse.

I actually prefer the rivalry being meaningful...but that's just me. People get ready months in advance for the iron Bowl or the cocktail party. The best teams want to beat the best teams. You gotta have a competitive spirit.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that there probably aren't a lot of Coot fans in Houston. And you may not have a lot of close Coot relatives. I had a ton of both when I lived in Lexington and even now here in Seneca. Bottom line is, when they suck, you don't hear near as much crap coming out of their mouths as you do when they're halfway decent.
So when they suck, it's quiet around here.

logical that all any Tiger fan wants is to have a healthy rivalry with them... but they are so unbearable with 6 wins that the only logical conclusion is that they go back to the 0-21 days so that Tiger fans can have any chance at peace... I've never heard such crowing about a team scoring 35 points but totally ignoring the 56 that they gave up to lose by 3 touchdowns... it is only logical that we want them to just shut the hades up!!!

The coots I worked with and currently work with don’t say a word. And I love it. Several years ago it was a daily debate with those clowns and it got so annoying hearing their crowing every day. Now it’s peaceful.

Every time I hear someone say they pull for us except when we play USuck I automatically discount their love of the game and for our Tigers. Pulling for a rival has nothing to do with what is logical; it's all about the orange blood running through my veins. It's a matter of the heart and the fact that I wouldn't be able to live with my traitorous self if I ever pulled for them to have any morsel of success. Also I would probably vomit.

I don't want to see them be able to take pride in any championships. If what you describe happened then in 20 years all any non-Clemson fans would remember is that they won the SEC East. Do we take any less pride in making the ACC Championship game in 2009 or winning the ACC in 2011 just because we lost to them? I sure see Dabo including them in our list of accomplishments.

...is/was a conscious choice. It is our job as Clemson Tigers to making sure they have to live with that poor choice everyday of their dirt pecking lives. Life is a series of choices for everyone, some good, some not so good, some downright awful....we are all a sum of our life choices.
The coots chose....poorly. Every loss is greatly earned and frankly, they don't deserve to be our rival.

Muschamp has always been a great recruiter and an evaluator of talent. One of his recruiting classes at Florida had 9 defensive players get drafted at some point, including a couple of 2 and 3 star players. Recruiting and evaluation are not the question for him. Wins and losses are. He had really talented teams at Florida but he can’t make that translate into wins. I don’t whether he will do that at South Carolina or not. I think, for their sake, they need to keep him for at least 2 more years. If they go 6-6 in 2020, then I would consider firing him. I wouldn’t fire him after this year though, unless they go like 3-9, which I don’t see happening.
And I’ve never cared about whether they win or lose. But, I do find it more enjoyable when they lose because their fanbase is hilarious after a loss.
