You know, on all those blocked kicks this past season

I heard some chatter early on that protection was breaking down because Peter Woods wasn't on the field blocking on field goals. I have to ask, is it just me that thinks out of all the guys on the roster who are on scholarship to block you know, actual offensive lineman why is missing a defensive tackle such a deal-breaker? Are you going to tell me that he's one of the best blockers on the team? If so our offensive line room was even worse then I thought it was. That said I believe with Coach Luke we have the right man in the right position and it's only going to get better.

It is has always struck me as kind of bizarre how we utilize some of our offensive and defensive starters on special teams….

Why on earth was Mafah returning kicks this year? We kind of stumbled upon Randall as a good returner due to injury!

It's very common to use both offensive and defensive players on special teams. The assignments are very simple so most defensive players can be taught to block. And it's good to have good tacklers on the field on any special teams play in case there is a block or a return. You don't want fat O-linemen to be the only ones on the field if some fast cornerback starts running with it. Most teams do it, and all the elite teams I know of do it.

I've never liked how Bowden and now Dabo use our most valuable offensive starters in the most dangerous position on the field. I was also so worried when CJ returned punts and kicks. He was amazing at it, one of the best ever, but he was also 100% of our offense in 2009. We'd have been done if he got hurt. Mafah was similar, just with even less upside.

This! I get having a mix of players but it seems like we using key players as the return guys, just seems dangerous. We did it with Will Shipley too and we have Williams returning punts!

I know this generates explosive returns sometimes but it just seems unnecessarily risky!

My impression of this has always been the surest hands for the punt return team. You have to catch it first if you're gonna be a return man. That would be the my reason for Williams.

Something was exposed during that FSU game and it was definitely someone on that left side. I do believe some kicks were coming off low as well.

My frustration and it’s still hard for me to comprehend is the “why” it was not fixed. You would think that would have been corrected on Monday or Tuesday of the following week.

Absolutely. One game okay I get it. But this was one of our Achilles heels this season. Well, that and tackling both of which are correctable through coaching in most cases. The thing is, I think we have our best kicker we've had in a decade. I think he's Catman good. Time will tell
