You expect to drop off a certain degree and not always be at

the very top. But the recruiting during this run had me thinking it would be decades before we were so bad we were looking up at the rest of the ACC. Never expected a complete drop off and wipe out like this. Thought the recruiting was too good for that to happen. Shows you how fast the wheels can come off if you slack off on one side of the ball. Granted DJ, a five star, is at this time not what was expected, but it goes way beyond DJ. Its the line, the receivers, the play calling, the play book, the scheme. There is just nothing there. I think 8-4 would be a pleasant surprise at this point and give somhope for next year, but it is looking like could be anywhere from 4-8, 5-7, 6-6,7-5 or 8-4. Timme will tell.

If we dont wake up it is going to be a little like the dive Texas took w Mac when they kept getting great classes and doing nothing on the field

We will be no worse than 8-4. Remember, we held UGA to no

TD's on our defense in the first game.
We just need the OL to get some continuity. Just to remind you that "we" means Clemson.

Yeah but that defense is suffering key injuries now

and will likely to suffer more as the season progresses due to how much time they spend on the field. If we lose Davis and Bresee for a significant period of time, we will see a huge drop at the DT spot.

Our defense is already not what it was vs Georgia

Tyler Davis gone, and many other injuries yesterday. And though we held Georgia to 3 points, we gave up 8 to Georgia Tech and 14 to NC State in regulation. Those are great numbers, but even those numbers aren't enough to overcome one of the worst offenses in the modern FBS. If none of yesteday's injuries turn out to be season ending injuries, the defense will still wear down. They are on the field a lot. They were on the field a lot vs Georgia Tech and NC State might have been a record.

Yeah and it didn't just start. No one wants to hear the truth but we've been very fortunate to have won as much as we have as long as we have. Thank you CBV.

Did the offensive woes start when Jeff Scott left?

In my opinion, yes. He was the second brain to the schemes... and I personally think he was the one that would come up with the flashier play calls...i.e Orange Crush play. I think it also got masked when he first left because Trevor was great in his understandings of football, and had a good understanding of how to read defenses and check out of initial bad play calls into one's that would work against what he was reading. DJ just doesn't have that knowledge level yet, and is simply going with what he's given.
And now, it should be to Tony to improve the calls based on what he's reading, instead of playing the same tired plays that aren't working and that teams are used TY sing and have figured out how to defend. He also needs to work 1 on 1 to get DJ at the level of understanding Trevor and Deshaun were both at in reading defenses.

Play calling and scheme has been suspect with TE at the helm with or without Scott. Agree that teams have caught up with it and we have not adapted. I was hopeful Tony would do that this year but that obviously did not happen.
