NCAA harassment advertisement and allowing gambling.

Anyone see or hear the new NCAA advertisement asking fans not to harass student athletes? Something along the wording of a growing concern about fans bashing players on Social Media and to refrain from this abuse by fans.

*My response is the athletes are getting what is expected. You want to be paid as professionals, you will be treated as professionals. You get paid more than most your fans and you act in an unprofessional manner or decide to transfer because you didn't start, then fans have the right to treat you like any other professional players.

> NCAA is going to open the rules where athletes and staff can bet on professional sports.

* Where or how is this a good idea? You kids with money can now bet their money on professional sports. This is bad in many ways to include: youthful poor money management practices and addiction, inside knowledge with professional players, players possibly reciprocating big bets with pros and college.

I am sure this is raising its head in the NCAA is because:
#1- ESPN has a gambling site now that McAfee was hired to help setup. They know all this NIL money will be easily sucked out of college athletes
#2- NCAA had lost all cause to benefit the 'Student Athletes of America' and has sold its soul.

College sports are about to die. It's only a matter of time before fans realize what else they could be doing with their time and money. Once fans walk away, it'll be hard to get them back.

Its sad that such a great institutional sport has been corrupted by money and idiots that ruled on college sports that probably went to schools in Northeast like Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Yale, etc and had never a great college sporting experience. They think that great teams are like NE Patriots, NY Yankees, Jets, Knicks, Boston Flyers, etc etc. No idea what college athletes and sports traditions existed in the south or bluebloods.

Its really being trashed by stupid decisions that really do not benefit the players as a whole and only a few will better themselves in the longrun.

College sports aren't going to die as far as people watching. College football will be huge as long as anyone is alive that posts here.

You actually think college sports will disappear. There are way too many people out there who like to bet on games and watch on tv. I only see it getting bigger. Check out the attendance at the top 20 footballl schools and see for yourself.

Gambling will always exist but letting student athletes legally gamble is just dumb not to mention allowing the staff/coaches

I dont think harassing pro athletes online is also bad

Especially going on to their personal social medias and commenting hate messages on pics of them with friends or family.

And that absolutely happens every day. Pro tennis players get tons of abuse messages after losses from bettors. Euro soccer players get crucified online.

College athletes are getting it more and more now thanks to betting.

I think it is horrible that people think they can invade other people's space to harass and abuse but that is part of being a professional. If you don't perform, then expect backlash from fanatics. There is a reason the team used to close their SM accts during the season but now the athletes are using SM as a form of marketing and monetary gain. So they either deal with the consequences of being a paid pllayers or go back to the system where they were protected and managed to help them migrate their new found popularity.

It's the world the NCAA allowed to be created.

sports broadcasts now are all mentioning odds and wagering. politicians have gotten us here because of the money from gaming taxes they get. It is a slippery slope and I dont expect it to be addressed

Nothing good can come from college athletes gambling their money away.

I’m a die hard sports fan but I consider most fans unhinged and in need of actual therapy, not sports.

Sports is another form of religion along with politics.

What did you really expect?

It was not the NCAA that opened the door of NIL and transfer portal. It was our legislators, led by the California contingent.
The only people who can make change to college sports is our government.

Greed has killed the World of college athletics... Not paying Clemson athletes is the only reason I was involved in Clemson athletics and I have never followed any professional sports.

My love for Clemson football and all things Clemson still holds on, but it only holds on by a thread now. Unfortunately it's slipping away and I don't want that, I love Clemson football, but my heart cannot follow money driven athletes. It's unfortunate, but it changes the character, and the demeanor of the athletes.

I know ppl are going to say the school was making millions blah blah , its the same defense as to why, well I liked it the old way, you get a education and a chance at professional sports after you left Clemson with a degree, hopefully you left Clemson with a degree.....

I'm not trying to debate no one on what it has become, I'm just telling you where I came from on this issue...
Go Tigers!!

I 110% agree. The idea that students should be paid is ridiculous. The people advocating for nil are the ones who undervalue the education that the schools provide. We can get into the whole argument of how much money schools actually make off of sports. How many athletes are actually able to go professional. And, realistically, it still doesn't buy championships...say to Texas a&m from a few years ago, when they spent millions on a team that crashed and burned. I agree. If college sports wants to become minor leagues, I'm probably going to be even less involved. I don't spend a dime on professional sports. Since nil, I haven't bought a jersey or any memorabilia.

If I was the athlete, I'd have a SM assistant. I wouldn't read the bu!!$#!+ and the assistant would let me know of any money offers or deals.

Being able to bet is a different story. I bet Pete Rose is rolling in his grave.

Go Tigers!
