That’s taking care of your own. I have no problem with it as long as they are not the main coach at the position. I’m sure they are just learning and relay what the coach wants out of the position.

No the talent has dropped off.
You’re not wrong either but the talent drop off is absolutely real.
Yall can believe those recruiting rankings or blue chip rankings all you want… we haven’t recruited like we used to in quite awhile.
We don’t have day 1 difference makers anymore like we used to reel in literally every single year.
Some of yall… not necessarily accusing you… but some believe bc they see an article that says Clemson has top 5 talent according to recruiting rankings… actually believe we have a top 5 roster.
We don’t and it’s not even close. They’re holes and gaps all over this roster.

at that point. He thinks the reason he was successful was because of long term coaches and the stability that brought in recruiting. He thought he could keep players by throwing the freshman out there when we had a 4 TD lead and we’d slowly see those leads drop down to 2 TD’s.
It’s now a “one year at a time” sport. LOI’s no longer mean anything. The players you’ve spent years recruiting can now leave for a payday, a floozie, or just for the heck of it with no impact to their careers. So, stability in your coaching staff means a lot less now. There’s a certain “slimeball” attitude needed with coaches to be successful in this environment. Dabo hasn’t shown that yet. It’s good ole boy politics, which is good for these former players, but it comes at a cost to alumni and donors. Clemson is no longer giving its “shareholders” those dividends they are accustom to. Something’s gotta change.

Nick Eason although falls under the category of former tiger shouldn't be on these lists, he did it the right way. He had years of NFL experience before coming back to Clemson. Thats how it SHOULD be. Not come here with no experience and stay here. Or have some sort of internship. You get one year as a low ranking staff member (like an analyst) and then you get the door, we'll write a great recommendation, you now have some experience now you have to leave for a minimum of 5 years before you can come back. AND any coach worth their salt should WANT to get more than one coaching perspective. Dabo is incredible, but learn from other great coaches too! Tony elliot had to scrap at South Carolina State and Furman before coming back. Why are we letting these new guys skip coaching steps??
If Boulware was a great LB coach at Wofford or the citadel for a couple years before coming here I'd understand it, but LB coach is an important position! Coaching is a real craft! Use your name value to recruit at a smaller level and get all the early learning mistakes out of the way before coming here. Develop those high school coaches relationships in the south, get your name out there when you're at a small school.
Look at willy korn! He's been grinding away for a decade and now is the OC at liberty.
If we brought him on as a QB or a WR coach I wouldn't mind because he's done it for a decade elsewhere.

Being a good/great player doesn't mean you're a great coach. I'm not singling anyone out (I'm the last person who would pretend to know). But coaching is mostly teaching and motivating. As many issues as there are at as many position groups I have to believe there are a few despite their best efforts(hopefully) that are just not great coaches.

Wrong about zero prior coaching. Also some guys had NFL experience

Nicholas Eason (born May 29, 1980) is an American football coach and former defensive end who is currently the defensive tackles coach and run game coordinator at Clemson University. He previously served as an assistant coach for the Auburn Tigers, Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns.
Mickey Conn had 16 years as a head coach at HS level.
Tyler Grisham played four years in NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers (2009–2011) Denver Broncos (2012)
Bowers was an NFL and CFL player for 5-6 years.

Article said FBS coaching experience. And NFL and FBS don’t correlate well. Plenty of examples with coaches doing great at one level and not the other

Well, some of these have good reason for being on staff. Several of the Clemson guys are also either completing their degree or they are getting Masters. Dabo has always welcomed former players to come back and earn degrees. Not sure that isnt any different than at other schools but I agree the list looks a little long. Unfortunately I dont think a few coaches are pulling their weight like Spiller.

Sure. Tiger Trust allows them to complete their degree. Swinney can even offer a GA opportunity. That’s where it should stop until they have proven their coaching abilities elsewhere. I would really like to see coaches with experience at lower levels of college football where they can learn how to get strong performances from less talent. That also helps with HS talent evaluation skills.

I never heard of this Simon says guy and I am not going to look at the bios, but analysts are not coaches, assistant position coaches are only assistants and in the case of Tony Eason, he coached at Auburn and of course spent 17 years playing and coaching in the NFL which would be good enough at any school.

That’s cool. Bottom line is we would be 4-0 if Cade played like he did last season. We’d easily be 4-0 if he would’ve just improved slightly from last season. Instead he regressed from the 6th best QBR in the nation to the 91st QBR. That’s the real reason we are 1-3.
