Well we should be open to the idea that the rev share/NIL package presented to current players was not at an amount that would likely encourage them to stay. Brownell has been working the transfer market for awhile now. He knows the ropes.

Cutting people. He may even go as far as to say I don’t see you having a lot of playing time next year. Which I would admire because he’d be upfront. Just saying he ain’t cuttin’ nobody. And I’d be really surprised if we are somehow just that much more wonderful next year. I’ll be happy for someone to mark this and I’ll eat crow next year if I’m wrong.

If you tell a player they aren't going to play and that their NIL money is going away you are effectively cutting them...

Well now, just about anything T-Netters have to say about coaches making their personal or private decisions is mainly speculation by us, isn't it?

Actually that is giving them a choice once the coach, and he is the man in charge, has let them know what he may be thinking about how they performed last year, and these players know how they played during a season. And that seems to be fair to me, nothing is better than being straight up and honest. If he does that, that puts their decision in their court. They can stay or go, it's their choice...

The only loss I care about is Jones. Although he was super inconsistent at the end of the season. Heidbreder was an average shooter at best and Wiggins sucks at basketball. Asa never played.

HOT TAKE

He knew it was going to be a rebuilding year even if he had no kids portal out. So why not push them all out, start with a clean slate and in case we take some big steps back he gives himself more leeway over the next few years because folks will just say "oh he had to rebuild in 2025"

Why go half rebuild when you can go full rebuild?

Its not a bad move, I rather admire it.

You might find more support for this if we weren't hemorrhaging our HS crop in the process. Every year is shaping up to be a restock, rebuild type of season with little internal foundation to build on.

I think you are right.

I also think we have more NIL money now with the revenue sharing. We brought in heidbreder 2 years ago. We have more NIL money now. If we can afford a better player, it would be negligent of brownell not to bring in a better player. Same goes for chauncey and Asa.

Brad isnt cutting players, but im sure he is being honest with them about what role they will play next year.

Yep, and it's better for Brownell when a player isn't turning out how He expected them to turn out bc it keeps him from having to take scholarships from a player that could have a scholarship somewhere else. That is probably the main reason for a private chat in his office behind a closed door, Brad having his chance to let guys know what's on his mind in hoping they choose to transfer, and with that it saves him from having to be the bad guy if it come down to him having to pull a kid's scholarship.

I don't have a clue without doing the research that someone could save me, how many full scholarships do a NCAA division 1 head coach have to build his team with. I heard a while back that a basketball and baseball HC's could work with giving partial scholarships with basketball and baseball, but I don't know how true that is either?

Pulling scholarships isn't on the table really. We barely fill what we have regularly and it's not the Clemson way in any sport, except for cause. Now however it's simply no NIL or playing time commitments. Those carry more weight anyway today. If you're not getting playing time it's going to be hard to generate your own NIL opportunities the legit way.

That goes for me also bc I don't care one way or the other what someone clicks, TU or TD bc that's their choice and that's what those two choices are for, for folks to use them anyway they choose to and I'm OK with whatever their choice maybe bc it's their personal choice to click whatever they feel I may deserve in their opinion. I may disagree with it, but it wasn't my choice, it was theirs, period!!!

LMAO, I have totally agree with you, nobody on our side of the ball was playing, and for whatever their reasons were, they took the first half off. Maybe they were wanting to prove something to the country, and it backfired, and it did do that regardless of what anyone was thinking!!!:(

You could right Judge, but personally I believe that Brownell after about 10 minutes should have been trying to see if any player on our bench could hit any of those missed shots that were being thrown up inside the arch bc they weren't just missing everything behind the arch, they were missing every shot thrown up, period!!!
