Ye old Scotchman, GITT

Father-in-law is wrapping up a multi-day/multi-trip power washing fiesta at la casa. I wanted to get him a bottle of nice Scotch. I already have him a bottle of JW Gold at the house for sipping when he's over, so I was thinking a bottle of Blue, but I read where there are far better, far more reasonably priced Scotches than at the price point for Blue.
So, any recommendations? He's a blended man, and not much into peat. I was thinking maybe a 15-year or whatever blend of the go-to brands. But if you got a better, more niche rec., I'll be glad to be hearing it.
Gonna even head down to Frugal McDougal's to try to see if the free liquor market of SC can open up more options that our Communist-controlled regime here in NC.

He looked at himself in the mirror and I had to stop him from suicide.

This probably won't help much, but here goes:

If he likes blended Scotch, ignore the price points and focus on flavor & quality.
Old Parr is not terribly expensive but is sought after by Brits who find it hard to get in the UK. Ugly bottle though.
Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt whisky and is good.
If you want to spend some money to show your appreciation an approachable single malt such as The Macallan double cask or the Balvenie double wood are pretty tasty.
I wouldn't bother with aged Dewars, Chivas, etc., but who knows, they might be good. Just do your research because some could be smoky/peated.

(TWSS) and it was really good, not Peaty, nice bottle, sounds fancy, don't remember the vintage though, if that is the right word to use there, but 12-year seems right.

here are a few good blends:
Johnnie Walker Green 15 (a blended malt, no grain) really nice for the price ~$60 and the 18 (used to be cal1ed Platinum) ~$80 {FWIW i think the 18 has more going on than Blue, which is a subtle whisky}
Dewar's 25 more than $200 - not sure it's worth it, though it is a very easy drinking whisky Dewar's 21 'double-double' drinks more like a single malt than a blend ~$80 for a 375 bottle (the 27 and 32 are both great but much more expensive) Dewar's 19 'Champions' edition - make in conjunction with the gold US Open, a bargain at less than $80
Chivas 18 ~$80 bigger, sweeter than the 12 Ultis ~$200 another blended malt - no grain whisky
