For us to win out and still not make the ACC championship game. Which is crazy to even think about.
However, if that were to happen, at 11-1, you gotta think we’d be hosting in the first round.

It is not possible..the sec, big ten, big 12 and highest group of five conference champions automatically get in the the playoff. Unless you meant we win out the regular season and not win the ACC Championship game.

There are only 4 teams left with 0 loses and we play 1 of them (Pitt), knocking them out of the championship if we win out.
That leaves Miami and SMU. Can't see them both winning out and both ranked ahead of us.

If Clemson, SMU, and Da U all win out the first 5 tie breakers are a push since we don’t play each other, don’t have any common non-con opponents, and would all have 1.000 conference winning percentages. So the 6th tiebreaker is the highest rank in some janky service sportsource. I’m guessing one of Swofford’s relatives works there.

You’re missing one of the tie breakers which is combined acc opponent conference win percentage.

He is very correct. We can win out but because record of our opponents could keep us from making the ACCCG. In that case, we are currently ranked 10 and we can only go up from there. That will most likely put us hosting a 1st round game.

We will have to play in and win the ACC Championship or we may not even make the playoffs bc of our Strength of Schedule. Seriously the only team that we've played against this season was UGA, and we got man handled...

I would almost be ok with playing an Iowa St, BYU, Mizzou, LSU at home for first round of playoffs to get the guys focused and a big win at home. But it would suck to miss the ACCCG. I think Miami has to go undefeated and then lose in ACCCG against us as the only way the ACC gets 2 teams in the CFP. I don't think SMU manages the ACC without a loss which would give them 2 losses. Although, they have looked better with larger margins in wins than Miami has had to gimme wins by the refs.

It could go with Miami going undefeated and not make the ACCCG as well. Imagine being a top 5 team being undefeated and not play in your conference championship game. I really don’t see Miami going undefeated with the way they’ve struggled and needing the referees help to win their last 2 games. I think FSU beats them and if that happens there goes any chance of them making the playoffs unless they win the conference.

You’re correct. Right now it’s possible for any one of Miami, Clemson or SMU to win out and not make it to Charlotte. You’d have to assume the one outside looking in gets the first round host and the one that loses in Charlotte falls out of the playoffs.
However, let’s say for example Clemson loses the tie breaker and is 11-1 and doesn’t make Charlotte. 11-1 SMU vs 12-0 Miami in Charlotte. Smu beats Miami.
12-1 smu gets the first round bye
Does 11-1 and 12-1 Clemson and Miami both get in?

99% chance if Clemson doesn’t make Charlotte and Miami wins it. 83% chance to host. However, It isn’t possible for me to select both Clemson and Miami and choose their results. If I choose Clemson and choose “doesn’t make the acccg” it just assumed Miami wins it.
I’d like to know the odds if Clemson doesn’t make Charlotte and smu beats Miami in Charlotte.

What does Notre Dame not being in the ACC have to do with them making the Playoffs? If Notre Dame is ranked high enough, they will be in just like any other team.

There’s several tie breakers for a 3 way tie but the first levels would be irrelevant since none of the 3 play one another. The first one that would come in to play is conference opponent combined win percentage. Ours (for acc games only) is currently 3-11
