We’ve missed the playoffs two years in a row.
We’ve lost multiple games each of the last two years to teams we shouldn’t.
We are dealing with coordinators who don’t seem to know what they are doing at times.
We are not seeing the player development we need to see at multiple position groups.
All of these occurrences are significant departures from those playoff teams many of you like to reference when you feel uncomfortable about the conversation.
You want to trust the coach who gave us unprecedented success, but he’s also the coach who has overseen a notable slide from elite status the last two years with seemingly no recognition that this is a concern.

But we didn't play Kenny Pickett this year in the ACC and didn't play Georgia this year out of conference.
We also crushed South Carolina last year. Some how their QB got much better this year. I can't understand how.

The better team occasionally struggles (sometimes resulting in a loss) vs the clearly weaker team.
UGA struggled to beat Missouri this year.
MI struggled to beat Purdue.
TCU had the last second miracle victory of the year against Baylor.
Us vs S.Carolina … despite playing our worst game of the year, our loss would likely have been averted if A.Williams hadn’t fumbled.
It happens sometimes for the better team to play so poorly on any given Saturday that they end up losing (instead of eking out a close victory).
S.Carolina QB Spencer Rattler was a big improvement vs their awful QB from 2021.
But I’d roll the dice with DJU in 2022 while CK2 gets himself ready for 2023 all day & every day vs. losing both of them by taking Spencer Rattler in their place.
Not only was our overall record better in 2022 vs 2021, but our margins of victory (Wake game excepted) were better in 2022 vs 2021.

The case histories for quick changing programs who don’t waste time in firing coaches when Nat. Championship sequels don’t happen quickly are LSU (under Ed Orgeron for 2019 title year) and AUB (under Gene Chizik for 2010 title year).
Both LSU and AUB athletic sssociations are full of your type of person; either one (your pick) will welcome you with open arms.

It most certainly is based on past results. How do you justify that salary on future results. No one knows the future and the landscape of college football has changed dramatically.

Wow, talk about blindly following a coach! If you are ok with just winning the ACC yearly then good for you, but don't expect the rest of the fan base to be ok with that because the majority of actual fans are not ok with it. Dabo took us to the top and preached "Best Is The Standard" over and over and over. Even going as far as putting it all over the facility.
When we won the natty it was with outside coaching from BV to the analysts that were outside hires but now that Dabo is trying to run an incestuous amish mafia by trying to hire friends and family it is turning into a clown show now. Brandon Streeter & Tyler Grisham especially are running this program into the dumps by underdevelopment and high school play calling. It is absolutely funny how you sunshine pumpers are fine with it!

So Spiers has 3 years inside the program but no experience outside of it. However, big picture, you can't convince me that Dabo isn't surrounding himself with a staff with little major experience and the results are showing.
I guess we won't convince eacher other so agree to disgree?
By the way, I would have no problem with Dabo hiring and playing only his family if we could at least sniff the top 15 in defense and offensive production.

He played football in addition to baseball. Coached high school football. And was a GA with the football program before being an assitant special teams coach.

Still though, to your point, this was Streeter and Wes's first year. I didn't/don't like the hires but they need at least another year in my opinion.
And we got to get better.

Yea not understanding JK interjecting into anything about a proven coach who has actually accomplished anything of significance, and I normally hold my tongue regarding JK because deep down it is very impressive on his consistent Brownell support.
And the pay argument is apples and oranges. Clemson football is a big time money maker. Basketball never has and never will be at Clemson.

I guess the good news is starting in 2024 with the extended playoff format, winning the conference will get us into the playoffs so not having playoffs as a goal will be OK.

There’s one team in America that’s made the CFP more than Clemson. And the team that has the most appearances didn’t make it this year.
1 team each year wins it all.
So there are 130 losers/failures each year. They are goals you definitely want to achieve but unrealistic in the grand scheme of things. Other people really, really, REALLY want to win, too.
I want the basketball team to have goals of “finish above .500 in ACC season play every year” and “win multiple games each year in the ACC Tournament” and “make the Big Dance every other year.” Is Brad vocally implementing that as standards in his program? HECK NO!
But it’s cool. He’s a swell guy!

As the winner of the New Year’s first doofus of the day award, you don’t know that Bill Spiers was also Clemson’s starting punter on several of our very successful FB teams.
Bill was heavily involved in teaching the nuances of punting to his son … Will Spiers. (Have you ever heard of Will Spiers?)
Evidently, in your estimation, Bill Spiers is unqualified to be involved with coaching of special teams because he had no experience in coaching special teams at the HS level.

I probably don’t check back here, but I’m willing to bet Clemson is in the playoffs next year.
You guys are just butt hurt and acting like butt hurt dudes act. From an outsiders point of view, which I’ve met Dabo and Trevor Lawrence and toured the athletic facilities which is way more than any of you, so maybe I’m not that much of an outsider. Klubnik just wasn’t ready early on and then he starred against a terrible UNC defense. He still has some growth to make which should be encouraging to any with sense. Then, this recruiting class is better than it’s ranking and who cares anyway, about rankings.
